  • Team for 2012?

now the 2011 is over, thought i'd post my ideal 17 for next year:

    1. Minichiello (who else is there?)
    2. Perrett
    3. BJ Leilua
    4. SKD
    5. Tautau Moga (proved hes a good finisher and could be suited to the wing)
    6. Carney
    7. Pearce
    8. Kennedy
    9. Friend
    10. Ryles/JWH
    11. Cordner/Bosden
    12. Guerra
    13. Aubusson (Someone needs to tackle)

    14. Mitchell
    15. JWH/Ryles
Final 2 bech spots go to Bosden, Cordner or Tasi, unless Ryles doesnt resign in which all 3 will be in the 17
I know Anasta won't leave and FPN won't be dropped but one can wish.

Also, off topic, but relevant to what i posted a while ago about Josh Dugan 2013. Rumour has it he doesn't get along with Elliot and this may lead to him not signing

frankly i don't care too much about dugans sooky tempers, in fact good as he is id rather not see him at the roosters, id much rather quade cooper at fullback!

I would welcome either, although Cooper will ask for alot more and take some time fitting into the game. Both seem to have poor attitudes but i believe half of Dugans problem is he wants out of Canberra.

cooper seems to have a more explosive attacking ability, dugan of course is a proven league player that should make him worth more? he does have some contact with our club too? i think his sister is involved with a 20s player, but that may be finished now? of course Head know toddy pretty well? birds of a feather etc?

            1. Minichiello
            2.
            3. Leilua
            4. Kenny-Dowall
            5. Perrett
            6. Carney
            7. Pearce
            8. Warea-Hargreaves
            9. Friend
            10. Kennedy
            11. Guerra/Cordner
            12. Aubusson
            13.

            14. Mitchell/Symonds
            15. Ryles
            16. Tasi/Masoe
            17. Nuuausala

In an ideal world, this is the way i see our side shaping up. we have a void to fill on the left wing. as previously stated, tagive, oldfield and simmonds should be the 3 candidates as well as potentially vidot.

although there are players we can play at lock - braith, bosden etc for mine, that is another place that we are lacking someone with a bit of experience to lead our pack. finally, for depth, another young workhorse prop would be a good addition. considering the depth at brisbane, josh mcguire is the logical choice for me and would go great guns and complement the strengths of our current props perfectly. finally, signing slaimankhel from the warriors to play mainly 20s next year with a view to make him minis heir for 2013 and beyond.

for 2013, i would make mini and ryles retire and allow our younger players to come through and fill their positions as well as moving leilua from the centres onto the bench as a replacement backrower accomondating an extra outside back (moga/linnett/blair/carney/pritchard etc)

re fullback: If Duggan prices himself out of our budget, and I don't see Quade coming to us (parra fav's), I would not mind us going after James O'Connor from Yawnion. He is young, quick, and kicks goals. A little Slater-esque in the way he plays. Would attract good coin, but would be on similar coin to Duggan & definitely cheaper than Cooper.

Alofa Alofa has potential, but is a long way from first grade.

Will be interesting what we do in the fullback position.

If we want to be competitive in 2012 we need a fullback like Locke, a centre to partner SKD and a winger with size and speed that can read the game. Guerra is a must to retain and Ryles should retire. Anasta is needed by the club. Someone needs to teach Toddy how to tackle, an excitement machine if in form but let's alot of points in.

                  TauTau Moga - 2 tries, 3 linebreaks, 10 tackles, 1 offload and 178m

                  Kane Evans - (2 tries, 2 linebreaks - for a prop!?), 20 tackles, 15 hitups, 2 offloads and 181m

                  Ethan Lowe - 1 try, 1 linebreak, 40 tackles, 8 hitups, 3 offloads and 209m

                  They were from last week.
Expect this three to be debut for next year, if they don't make it this year's that is.

Wouldn't worry about buying a centre, Leilua will be strong there.

We will find out tomorrow if Leilua will be there permanently.

                      via Wallabies site:
Fast Fact: Although he has made his name in rugby union, James O’Connor played rugby league for five years with the Te Atatu Roosters while living in Auckland as a child. He then played AFL when his family returned to the Gold Coast, representing Queensland in that code in the Under-13 grade, before focusing on rugby once he attended Nudgee College.

Fair comments O.R. We all crave a strike Fullback , BJ should slot to Centre can run ,can tackle, Guerra must be retained, however the way they are talking he is not in their plans (our loss), Ryles could go another year just control the errors. Anasta remains the odd man out, The whole team should learn how when and where to tackle. JWH is an international and should be made better use of next year at Lock.

as sad as it would be to see guerra go, cordner is the better prospect i guess. also, it would allow us to keep ethan lowe who has been absolutely outstanding in attack and defense. yes its only 20s but he is consistently dominant like evans so we will be ok for backrowers irrespective

G F agree skd and BJ centres linnet and perret wing, give Graham fullback for 2012 Mini's was great but he lacks the energy to be in the right place at the right time...We have good forwards just need to keep and utilise them properly.

Firstly I didn't read too much into your initial post on this rumour, however given elliot left the raiders in 06 when dugan would have been 16, I can't see their paths having crossed to any great extent.
