  • Wow ive noticed there are a large amount of ......

    F#%*wits on this site.

Pearce has played 238 games for our club and i think in every one of them given 100%. Sure his not the best half in the comp but he is one of them. He has shown nothing but commitment and loyalty to this club and as a result the club up until now has shown it back. He has done 238 times more for this club than any of the try hard wannabes that are completely disrespecting him on here lately. He bleeds for the club for 10 years, is a premiership winning half and has been around for a very successful period for the club.

Sure be excited and upfront about the fact that Cooper is a better half than Mitch but why disrespect the man so much when all he has done is give his all and been a large part in the success we have had for 10 years. I'm excited Cronk is joining as well as he is a better half than Mitch but to come out and completely disrespect the effort and achievements he has made since being here shows how low some of you are. These same guys will mention loyalty in threads going forward from here and they wouldn't have a clue what the word means.

Give yourselves an uppercut. Keyboard heros.

Committed and loyal as a player, as a leader of this team he has been ill disciplined, as a representative of this club, team player and highest profile player, he is an extreme disappointment off field, Booze Bans, Rehab, fines, suspensions, arrests, police charges, I have said it before and I will say it again, this club has shown Pearce far more loyalty than he has shown them, others have been sacked for far less, this club has made him a very wealthy young man, they owe him nothing, forget the on field crap, compare the 2 players off field, that is enough for me

Too many Pearce/Cronk threads at the moment but I agree with you. As I said in another, I have been critical if his lack of skills and consistent tactics that have little effect when comparing him with other half backs but in no way will I be kicking him while he's down with personal insults. It's reminding me a bit like Finch all over again and to a lesser extent Mini.

We we all know Pearce is limited in what he can provide in skill and usually needs a good co creator like a Carney, Maloney. I agree with R6 on this that partnering with DCE may work better for him. I do however don't feel that partnering with Cronk will be as good because in the back of his mind it will always be having to listen to the guy who took his role. Besides I feel Keary is not only a better 5/8 but I feel that he would look up to Cooper and adapt quickly like his debut season for us. Pearce has giving it all for us and has tried to accomodate advise from the greats but he's not made for that. He has been a hard worker on the find and I'm as a fan am grateful. Just wished he had that quality that many other QLD halves like Cronk, DCE or even Taylor have. That's what we need and Cronk will have that plus he's organising skills.
Pearce has been a very worker and I won't diss him if he wants to leave. In a way his nearly like SKD.

Your a hard man to mention a guy putting himself into rehab and putting himself on a booze ban is a reason to disrespect him Thracian. He was arrested for failing to leave a licensed premises when asked. Ive done that(or tried too) just didn't get arrested for it. I'm guessing you have probably done something similar in your time as well. Agree with the comparison between him and Cronk on and off the field as a reason to be excited about the change but still disagree entirely with the disrespect.

Pearce seems like a genuinely good bloke.

And in between overcoming a lot of personal demons he's always given his all in a Roosters jersey.

He shares something in common with Cronk in the sense that he's gotten every ounce of natural talent out of himself through hard work. That he is a rung below Cronk in every facet (though still a very good player) is no fault of his own.

I genuinely wish him well should he leave. Though tbh I'd prefer he stay and shift to hooker with Friend moved on.

Agree with all you've said Tommy, apart from the preference to stay. I don't think that Mitch would be happy playing at 9, and he certainly won't want to be the cause of one of his best mates having to leave the club in Jake. And when Mitch hasn't been happy in the past, that's when his life has gone into freefall and that's the last thing he or the club needs, after putting so much effort and commitment into getting his likfe back on track.

If he's not No. 7 I think his best option is to leave, and that will be the best option for the club as well. Because if Mitch stays and Cronk comes he will likely play 6, which pushes Luke Keary out of the starting side and that's not a positive for the team in whatever way you look at it. Cronk and Keary will be a much better option.

I would have liked Mitch to be one club player, like his Dad, and I'm sure he thought that would happen, and the Cronk situation would have blindsided him. But he needs to do what's best for his career and well-being, and I don't reckon playing second fiddle to Cronk after he has run the team for so many years is a great option for him. Expecting him to accept a 'mentor' at his age and experience is a little insulting in my view and won't do much for his confidence. Best to wish him luck and let him walk away.

              Excellent post Lip.
As I said on another post the lack of respect on here by some and by the club for Pearce is really disappointing. Like it or not he has signed a contract with the club in good faith and has been a loyal servant to the club for many years.

I think you will find that those giving it to Pearce have been doing so for a long time. I’m different. He lost me in the prelim final. But I still think he should be left with some dignity.

                This situation isn’t the catalyst.

You really think he put himself into rehab and put those booze bans on himself? Cmon your smarter than that lol, even after Australia Day and rehab, his next interview when he came back was he said he did not have a drinking problem? I can forgive the odd off field hiccup here and there he is human like everyone else but his wrap sheet is plentiful.

I think and personally have doen for a long time Pearce would make a great number 9 But that wont happen if he doesnt want to be there If we sign Cronk and that is the case it is best for all concerned if he moves on to another club According to reposrts that we can fit them all including Pearce under the salary cap, this would mean the release of Pearce would leave us with some rioom for a forward or two. Win win for everyone we get a better hafback Pearce gets to play in his favourite postion and we are ablo to possibly strengthen in an area we look a little light in.

Loyal servant? The club could have sacked him many times over his his off field crap, Robbo and Nick saved him, the club has been more than loyal and he is a very rich young man because of it.

he has dragged this clubs name through the mud many times and be punished for it.

as much as I do not rate him, I want him to stay and move to 9, Jake into back row

if he wants to buy into what the club has planned, awesome if he wants to spit the dummy and go elsewhere, so be it, he will not be sacked he will leave on his own terms

And what does the club have planned for him? That is the question. Because a move to 6 would be a very bad move as that would leave Keary on the bench and our attack would be even more pedestrian. I don't think the club has any intention of playing him at 6 and it's all just politics, hoping for him to walk. That's just my opinion though.

On Cronk, there is no doubt he is a better half than Pearce. There is no doubt he has far more composure. But he's getting old and he will be out of his Storm bubble with his once in a generation teammates. I'm not so sure this is the right move putting all of our eggs in the Cronk basket. We have weknesses in other areas moreso than at halfback.
