I 'line' a lot of people's pockets - as do most of us if we work and have some sort of life. You are probably lining Rupert's pockets too, without even knowing it. His companies have their tentacles spread far and wide. As for Gould, we can agree to disagree, as usual. I cannot listen to his commentating. And his coaching successes were a lot time ago now - the game has changed a lot since then.

I used to boycott News Ltd but then realised that the only person missing out by that was me - in the scheme of things the money I gift to News is a drop in the ocean. I will admit that Foxtel is a necessity, not a luxury for me nowadays.

Whether we like it or not, it is Murdoch money that keeps the game of league viable in Aus. Most of the companies that sponsor the NRL in a big way have a News footprint in them somewhere. Same for AFL, union and I suspect soccer. He needs sport and sport needs him.

And I suspect you would like 9 to lose the rights, not love them, which they already do I do agree that the 7 coverage is far better than what 9 would have served up for the World Cup.
