Either way he's certainly in the upper echelon an as a true running 5/8 with a good pass he offers us something as a traditional 5/8 that not many other clubs have.

This is why I can't believe we'd risk losing him in a year. Robbo and Nick should have come out and said that Keary is our long term no.6 as soon as Cronk signed.

Their silence on this and talk of Pearce in the halves scares me. Surely they won't do the unthinkable and be prepared to let Keary walk.

    Morgan

    Munster

    Maloney

Upper echelon, maybe. I want to see one more good year out of him before we can say hes one of the best in the comp.

Munster is a better fullback than 5/8 imo.

      As a 5/8 I rate Keary higher.

Munster benefits from playing in that great system. Still a fantastic young player but I'd take Keary.

Keary had 7 tries and 12 linebreaks compared to just 1 try and 7 linebreaks for Munster in 2017.

And on this years form Keary was way ahead of Maloney.

No issue with Morgan but again he did all his best work at halfback this year.

But I agree that it'd be nice to see Keary back it up with another great season to consolidate his position as one of the best halves in the comp.

Be no excuses one has to say AND 2018 will need to be a premiership year as why sign him and not retain the status quo with Pearce and Keary as the halves and either develop targeted lower grade players to NRL standard or sign others to strengthen the obvious weaknesses - front row/centre/goal kicking player of NRL standard such as Ethan Lowe who is off contract at the end of 2018.
So applying your logic, each club which has spent one million dollars on a player will expect a premiership. For example TItans as they have spent $1m on Taylor and maybe more on Pearce assuming their other 1.2 million dollar player leaves. Also you have forgotten the fact that Cronk is probably only costing 100-200k more than Mitchell Pearce who is a good chance as any of leaving our great club.

On paper our team is probably expected to win a premiership but now with Maloney going to Penrith I would say Penrith and Cowboys if JT x 2, Scottt and Morgan stay fit will be also just about as strong as us and Storm with Smith, Slater, Munster and Co may have come back to the field but any side with Cam Smith in it will always be a threat. To say win a premiership, probably have to win back to back or get the sack is somewhat drawing the longbow imo. It may happen but for you to say it will happen means you probably know more about what Uncle Nick is going to do than the actual man himself.

Munster rates a wee bit higher as a 5/8 with me for now.

He was just about the best player on the field in his first SOO game in game 3 of the Origin Series this year and has played in a winning grand final team just like Keary.

Keary may get better but Munster is a great defensive player and also very tough like our 5/8. I just think Munster has slightly more credentials than Keary having played Origin.

Maloney may help deliver another premiership next year so I rate him as equal of Keary. He may not be as dangerous a runner or all round attacking weapon or defensive ability as Keary but his leadership, experience in big games and goalkicking are match winners in their own right.

Pearce must stay and I heard that the Chooks wont agree to a release- Uncle Nick has been inundated with fans responses to keep Pearce as a one club chook too-many true Chooks are unhappy with the way this has been handled and I have to agree with them too- handled poorly

even though the press wont know till ju juu returns from the states , id say the club have shown by their insistance to stay away from our player that he will stay a rooster ? just reading between the lines! the loser i think will be keary who after trying oit on for more cash will find himself on the bench replacing ju ju or cronk or jake? expect to lose keary in a season, he wont stay for 2 on the bench!
