don't know if this is smoke or mirrors or it's genuine - tomorrow will tell I suppose - maybe??
Provides insights to cronks mindset. Selfless. Team first. Hard work.

asked Pearse to do the same and stay. Ball is in Pearse’s court. Go overseas, take your time and make your decision Mitchell.

Seriously, why are we hell bent on keeping Pearce? He will be 32 after Cronk goes. Surely we can groom a youngster under Cronk, like Brodie Croft has at the storm, for the future.
      Get a young half now.

Pearce's attack for me is just as concerning as Keary defence. Also, is Cronk being asked to work with erratic Friend and the pedestrian lobs from DH? lol.

Going after Cronk has restored my faith somewhat in those in charge, after a long season of thinking Well what the hell are they seeing that I'm not? But as we know, what happens next is the real insight.

FO Gallen. Those comments just give you a view into HIS mind and the way HE works ... no thanks... a spiteful, nasty place.

Doesn't pre-season training usually start first week of November?

I loved cronk's repeated comments in his interview yesterday that everyone needing a team first mentality and hard work are vitally important. Vast difference to the drink first party culture of some league players that are meant to be professional sportsmen.

Conversation between pearce and robbo probably went something like this.Robbo HI mitch you must be looking forward to playing with cooper cronk, you will be coming off the bench probably to give friendy a rest its for your own good and the good of the side bro.Pearce No Robbo im not actually i dont think this will be any good at all for me at all in fact ive been offered more dough to play as a halfback by a couple of other clubs and ill be talking to a couple more when i come back from holiday see ya looking forward to playing you next year.

I think after a few years when the club saw he was not going to develop into a superstar, the club bided it’s time waiting for a good half to come along on the market. Look how quickly they grabbed Cronk. This has been on the cards for a long time. Pearce can get a great retiring deal somewhere else where he can play half and would be a fool to stay at easts experiencing ill feeling and tension. The players might not put in next year after this episode. I think it’s one big mess.

If Pearce does leave don’t expect a top 8 place next year. Sounds strange but the mateship in the team would have been shattered and resent, ent could be sky high with his departure and Cronk may not get the service he should. Meaning some might try to prove his purchase was a mistake by not giving good support on field. It’s only a theory but it depends on how well easts accept Cronk. If they don’t then we’ll see some very poor performances next year at the roosters.

Hope we don’t need to wait 3 weeks for a decision

Pearce got better stats than Cronk this season despite the fact the Storm were invincible. Yes they had Smith to share some stats but Pearce had Friend and Keary. Just saying...

How would Pearce go as a ball playing back rower in attack and half in defence? I personally think we need another BIG forward rather than Cronk. Maybe that’s the talk about ‘trends’ that Robbo had with Cronk though? Be interesting to see if this is all part of a highly calculated plan rather than just a grab at Cronk.

One exciting thing is that we are the ONLY team other than the Storm who will have used one of the ‘big 3’. I doubt there will be animosity between him and Melbourne (QLD’ers seem a lot more loyal than Gal who has now had direct swipes at Cordner and Pearce the farking dog).

However, maybe he knows a few thing that Bellamy doesn’t and this is basically just Cronk cementing himself as a tactical coach. If we stop thinking about what Cronk brings for a minute... this is probably the only chance a QLD spine player (barring Friend) will get to learn from Joey, JT, Pearce, Tedesco and Robbo. If he can absorb all their knowledge, he could be a pretty frigging complete coach (something I suggest the Storm want him groomed for). While not a MASSIVE fan of Cronk, this really is a once in a generation skill-sharing opportunity. I just hope there aren’t too many cooks in the kitchen.

My gut feeling is that management dont care if he stays or goes, possibly would rather he went and released some cap space....but who knows.
They just don't want to say it to upset his mates, look like ruthless glory chasers (which I don't mind) or set expectations that they would cover any of his salary.
The club is in a great position with the halves especially when negotiating with Luke.
They have MP and Conk tied up.
They can offer LK a lower contract than he may command if the roosters haven't locked up the other two.If LK accepts to have the chance to play with CC, then they may save alot on his contract then can release MP for no outlay. If LK rejects it, they keep MP and sell him the benefits of playing with CC?
