I think we all agree that with all the hype surrounding his signature with the club and the fall out from it, anything less than a premiership will not be acceptable from Cronk.

Yes, all 17 players, and the coach, and the staff etc are all responsible for winning a comp BUT I'm sure that Cronk realises that he has been brought to win a comp and is expected to do so.

I admit that at first when Cronk signed I was against the idea, mainly because it is hard for me to warm to a player when I have a strong hatred for the club/origin teams he has played for his whole career. But also because I didn't see the point in signing someone of his age who can't guarantee he will definitely win us a comp in the short time he will be here.

In saying that, on paper obviously the team looks stronger with Cronk in it, and over the last couple of weeks of the WC every time he has done well on the park, thrown a pinpoint pass, got a repeat set or set up a try with a great kick, I admit I have sat back and though a) I'm looking forward to seeing more of this over the next 2 seasons and b) I'm glad we got him and not another club.

And for the record, I don't want Pearce to leave, and I'm glad he said yesterday that "he thinks he and Cronk can work together."

But I don't see how that will work, because neither of them are running 5/8s.

I hope Robbo can see it????

A lot of games were lost through lack of skilled leadership, some at the death. The game vs the cows is one of the reasons Cronk has been signed. Nothing is guaranteed but I can safely say that we will be winning those games that we would otherwise have lost because no one has a clue on how to close a game.... I'm also sure that had we lost the game to the cows in a 'heroic' fashion, Pearce would probably be safe but like many here, as well as the clubs management, that was the final straw. Cronk doesn't come with a guarantee of the ultimate prize. He comes with a guarantee that he will give it his best and that is much better than what Pearce can offer even with such an age difference. If we lose out next year it will be through a valiant effort unlike what rubbish we saw in the PF.

Agree roc. Prefer Mgmt tried with a calculated plan rather than another season of bombs away on the last.
