For 27 games at club, state and international level. Cronk has only won 13 and lost 14 without Smith.

I want what is best for the team. I have explained this many,. many times but the non-fanboys do not pay attention.
Cronk was great for the Storm. He is the Australian halfback. I hope he proves to be great for us as well. But whether he is great or not will also depend on the players around him. Whether he has a good strong forward pack, whether he has depth, experience and class in the backs. whether players can hold onto the ball and not kick off on the full. Paying Cronk a lot of money will put some major question marks on these other things which is out of Cronk's control.

You just do not get the fact that Cronk signing has just as much to do with the mentoring and off field class he brings, even if by some miracle Cronk dropped to Pearces level, he would still be miles in front with the other things his brings off the field.

Not disagreeing with you, if he wants to stay he will, he has every right too, I think his ego will get the better of him and he will go.

What I am disagreeing with is your comments that is is loved and respected by all his team mates and those at the club, that is total BS, Politas and Robbo love him, that is why he was re signed, obviously since that signing something has gone wrong on/off the field or both, this changed Robbos and the clubs position.

you and others may be disappointed to he is no role model or mentor to the young blokes at the club, he is often first to leave training when others are doing extras, he is very reluctant to attend club functions to mix with fans and sponsors, I have seen him at fan days mixing well with the kids but I am on the fence if it is for real or a show to appease club or fans, unlike blokes like SKD, JWH, SST, Gordo, Latrell, Keary, Toops that attend many a event both club or non club because they want too, not because they have too.

Pearce has and always will be about Pearce

No one in their right mind would ever consider Mitch to be a role model - he has never shown any evidence of it since he came into grade.

But the club has accepted him, warts and all, including apparently being selfish, arrogant and lazy, for the past 10 years and has actually in a lot of ways shaped the person he has become. Perhaps he may have been a totally different character if he had spent his entire career at the Storm under Bellamy, rather than the various coaches he's had at the Roosters.

So Mitch is a person who looks after himself first - which is no different to 90% of the blokes in the NRL, and in society as well I suspect. Is that such a bad thing? I reckon Cronk has also looked after himself first in waiting until season's end before deciding to play on and signing for the Chooks, leaving players who may be affected by his signing with fewer options than if he had made that decision mid season. You see, most of us have at least a hint of selfishness in us.

i am freinds with one of the current player group at the roosters. The info i got a week or so ago when he was up here for his brothers best mates wedding, was that the roosters were gearing up for 2018 as the year to win the gf. robo and nic were assembling a hand few of [players as the base of the clubs future from 2015. SST, manu, maubs, jwh ,pearce, boyd and jake. the rest seemed to replaceable. Nik threw everything at cronk as he was the key to the plans. By what i know the $600 was added to those key players agreements. Im sure there will be a few on here will go blah blah blah bs bs bs, but i dont really care.

Either way it's a 17 man game of league, not doubles tennis. So even if that stat was accurate it wouldn't outpoint the eye test which has told me over 300 games that Cronk is an absolute gun.

No inside info required to know we are playing for a comp in 2018. So we should be with the squad we have.
