another young Lam will pull on the red/white/blue, with Adrian's youngest son Bailey signing a 3yr deal.
also not sure if its been mentioned, Adrian is coaching the Roosters SG Ball side this year.
AN emotional Adrian Lam welled up with tears as he watched son Lachlan score two first-half tries in his international debut for Papua New Guinea.
And there is more reason for the Lam family to celebrate after youngest son Bailey signed a three-year deal to join Lachlan at the Sydney Roosters.
The duo are following in the footsteps of Lam, who made the Roosters’ No.7 jersey his own.
“I had tears in my eyes,” Lam said of Lachlan. “I didn’t realise the levels of it until I was watching it. Then I saw him run out with that jersey on and in PNG.
“I’m just glad he got a start. It was really pretty emotional. I’m that sort of guy. I’m a bit of a sook when it comes to that.
“My family that are in PNG were there. I know he was motivated. I was emotional because I was proud of him.”
At the same venue in 1994, Lam played the first of his 14 Tests for PNG. He said Lachlan took some convincing to play for the Kumuls but was now thriving in that arena.
“I’m glad he played the way he did,” Lam said.
“There are parts of his game he can still fix up. I thought his game was outstanding given the extra pressure he would have had because no doubt people would have been saying he only made the team because of the name.
"He had to prove something, which would have motivated him. He said he’d been training well.
“He was unsure of it all. He had only been up there once.
“I’ve spoken to him during the week and he realises now just how special it is and he loves it.”
Lachlan played for the Roosters under-20s this year, while Bailey will be coached by Lam as part of the Roosters’ under-18 SG Ball squad.
Bailey, who will turn 16 later this year, is a fullback/halfback.
“He is pretty tall,” Lam said. “We have to work out what position he is. He is skilful.
“He has a bit of Billy Slater about him.”
