  • maybe stanley is going to be melbourne's new mascot....

    • Stanley is going down to become an apprentice butcher so he can use knives all day long. Cherrington should have joined him.
Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

      • I just find it very unfair on Stanley that he gets punted by the club, and Cherrington stays for doing arguably something far worse.

But my dad said it in a very blunt manner unfortunately: "It is because Cherrington is a better player than Waqa"

Unfortunately, that is the attitude our club shows. If we followed precedent, Cherrington, Myles and Friend should have followed Sa and Waqa out the door, regardless of the quality of their playing skill.

I understand your comment but to also be fair cherro was a year ago whereas these latest boofheads (especially myles, sa and stanley) did their relevant actions after it was made clear that the club would sack the next offenders.

          • Cherrington was only re-signed relatively late in the current season however.

They had two chances to get rid of him for what he did - either sack him on the spot after the incident, or simply not re-sign him. The same applied for Myles, as he was off-contract this year as well.

JWH will probably do what Myles was SUPPOSED to do - add some serious fire and mongrel to the pack. Myles is a massive unit but rarely runs as hard as he can, and rarely does anything 'angry' other than give away penalties.

I thought Myles was the ideal replacement for Morley, but I was sorely mistaken. JWH is more suited. He is younger, BIGGER (190cm and 110kg and he is only 20), has a lot more aggression, and had the fortitude to stick it to the Australian national team and not back down.

The best thing Myles did this year was kick a grubber to set up a try. No joke.

Myles was good last year, but 2007 was marred by poor form and suspension, and 2009 was marred by STUPID suspensions for off-field misdemeanors. He should consider himself VERY lucky that he was re-signed.

Cherrington is perceived as a talented footballer so he received more leeway than some others. Same applies for Myles and I suspect for Friend as well.

I'm certain it would also apply to some others in our squad who go out looking for trouble if they finally get caught out.

It's not just the Roosters, most clubs work on the same basis - if you're talented, you get more than a few chances. But that doesn't make it fair and just. It's just the way it is.

Precedent implies it happened first. Sa and Waqa occured after the others. A decision was made after these incidents and communicated to all players. Further a decision was made not to implement the new rules retroactively. Some players chose not to follow and find themselves out the door. So be it. The precedent has now been set.

but that;s life NC. as you said.. doesn't make it right but it's not limited to our club, our sport... or sport in general for that matter. talented individuals are always given more wiggle room.

I'm sure some of the best doctors were the most talented in their field but got drunk every other weekend in college / uni, or did plenty which could have had them thrown out. Someone realised they had talent and gave them a second chance... now they are saving lives.

Mate, i think you just like the sound of your own voice

                    Are you retarded?

Apart from Shillington, he's the only Roosters player who played Origin last season

He's one of the better defensive forward in the game, and far and away the best defensive forward we have

As with every new player we sign, you jump on their bandwagon and crap on about how they'll do this and that and blah blah freakin' blah.

                    Riley Brown springs to mind

Now that depends whether they've sobered up or not.

I find it amusing you could find a similarity between footballers and doctors.

                      • I have definite confirmation that Jason Ryles has been signed and will start training in two weeks. Also the latest I have from the Sa situation is that he is off to the Catalan Dragons.

Also on my previous post about new NYC signing Jared Allen, he is a fullback/centre, not a second rower.

I think we got better deal of that swap LOL.

                          • I have a source and they have been pretty much spot on with everything they have told me. It's your personal choice whether to believe it or not. He is a great signing for us and I think our squad has been finalised.
