The changes at the Roosters mirror the changes at the Yankees. The Yanks ditched Girardi because he's not won anything since 2009. The Roosters had a very good team from 2012-2017 and won one comp. And that was thanks to SBW and Jennings' brilliance.

The Roosters will demand immediate success with the new group, so the pressure is on them and the coach.

It's simply forecasting for the future and getting the right balance for our squad.

I've no doubt over the next couple of years a few more will move on and make way for up and comers either at the club or not. That's football.

I cant stand to watch this , I'll eat humble pie if we have a great season next year , but it's not what I would have done.
Trent Robinson is a great guy , but at times his coaching decisions have made no sense , and have just been plain WRONG.

Sorry for the rant , just not seeing the plan.

            You answered your own question.

Because it was only a good team. Not a great one.

This is the question that will be asked postmortem if we can't improve on our 2017 season.

For now the answer is simple, we did it because we thought we needed better in order to improve on last year.

Don't leave the Baloney guy out of the key players. He had a blinder backing up, kicked the pressure goals put the Jennings kick in and pulled off some great tackles.

Salary Cap...new contracts to be negotiated. [Unlike some other clubs, we are obeying the rules]...with us 2 + 2 = 4
Young players have to be given a chance or we'll lose them.
                  RTS stuffed our FB plans.
                  SKD drama.
Watson left to play FG elsewhere.
Pearce didn't like the Club's plan for him...learn from Cronk then be better no 7 and play with us until age 35.
Jennings seemed not to want to be here, and seemed to play accordingly....plus off-field dramas.
Evans...didn't progress to top status...used to drop the ball a lot.
Gordon was only ever a sort term signing.
We're rebuilding...not sure 2018 will be our premiership year.
Not sure our 2018 team is better on paper than the Cows and Storm.
We needed McLean...but he went to the Cows.

2018...our last chance to win a comp at Allianz.

Maloney would've been the first player I re signed...but I didn't get to say.
                    The first one.
                    The very first one!
                    For the reasons stated.

Now another club doesn't want him.....after he won them a premiership also.

Panthers don't have a problem signing him...he'll probably win them a comp too.

This is it exactly Rooster NZ , but I agree with Keith, we have dismantled a good team as a knee jerk reaction to this game.

Lets look at it objectively ,

                      1. Our front row got "owned" , we have been short one dominate prop for 3 years now , has this been rectified ?

                      2. Latrell has 2 momentum swinging "brain farts" , he is still here whether he has learnt any thing or not who knows ?

                      3. Toops Gets monstered on the line - what was he even doing on the field ? our rotation was "crazy " all year , will this change ?

                      4. Lost games in the past because no recognised kicker , get Flash to rectify this it worked , now we lose Flash you steps up ?

                      5. In the past we are a team that continually makes the same stupid mistakes and gives away Dumb penalties, will these cease ? were the players who made these the ones who were released ?

                      6. The use of our bench rotation has been "questionable " at times to say the least , will this improve ?

The good team we had was not a great team,if it would have been than we would have a bit more silver wear in the cupboard.
The changes have all been for the better. We still need an offloading forward who will initiate second phase plays as this changes the regulated defensive structure of the opposition and leads to scoring opportunities for our side

A lot of keen judges, including Freddie, labelled our attack predicable. Sure we had team stability but in playing the cards we had our structures were easily read. Only Keary and Mitchell offered any variety with the occasional flare of Ferguson. A host of new talent can change that as 2013 showed. We had a new coach, who had some experience with the core group. We added strength and skill, class and speed.

We let a lot of players go and welcomed SBW, Maloney, Jennings, Moa, LOD and had developing youngsters RTS and Tupou coming in out wide. They gelled and we took out both titles. So the combination needs to be one of core skill and experience with burgeoning talent.

Apart from Robbo still at the helm, the new skill comes through Cronk and Tedesco, with hopefully one more gun player added to the mix. The young guys coming through now like Mitchell, Matterson, Butcher, Collins and co are at a similar age to say Cordner back in 2013. They have to kick on for us to genuinely be a chance. Hopefully the new spine will remove some of the predictability. The key is in everyone gelling and working toward the same goal 'enthusiastically'.

So we are now assembling a more than good team which hopefully supersedes the old one. But a lot will depend upon how the younger ones develop their skills from here on in. That's one big reason I think Cronk was brought across. I think both Matterson and Butcher possess and can improve their ball skills. Re another prop. Another hard man to the mix would be good. A lot favour Walmsley but I was also impressed with Chris Hill in the WC final.

Cronk was lined up well before that game. Before the finals actually.

We had the cattle this year.

Our crime was not about not being good or great.

It was about being DUMB...players and coach... resulting in our embarrassing exit stage left.
