The storm have lost their general and will no doubt have a premiership hangover.

The eels could be the dark horse but will be too inconsistent in my opinion.

We absolutely should be favourites. We finished second, were one game away from the GF and have only improved our squad.
I pretty much agree with this.

I do think the Panfers are the team to beat, they look super strong to me and everywhere Jimmy goes he has success

      Amen brother.

'We play for premierships', ' X buys premierships', 'Bought not bred', 'Dogs of War' etc etc - all these cliches we hear in NRL land are complete horseshit.

      The bottom line is,

      EVERYONE plays for premierships
EVERYONE 'buys' players to win premierships
EVERYONE buys, very few are bred
EVERYONE has a siege mentality to some extent (it's professional football FFS)

      End of.

Finish second in the regular season and then buy Tedesco and Cronk.

Latrell a year older and plenty of grunt in the forwards.

All we need is a goalkicking prop.

We have one in Tauks the Dozer, so a second one shouldn't be too hard to find.

For those that are interested here's the current market from various bookmakers/betting agencies anyway. Not much between the top three - Roosters, Cowboys and Storm.

                    Likewise

Nothing but dishwater, & given the history in prelim finals. coach needs look at himself.

Maloney & SBW carried both the team & the coach back then

I am happy for Teddy and Cronk to do the same.

                          LOL. Nice.

It will be interesting to see how much game time he gets and at whose expense.
Interesting how Newcastle are still being seen as bottom eight by some in the media - I think they'll go quite well.

                            seem to agree re Newcastle.

what interests me is last season, brown had a developing squad that was almost there. For this season will they continue to play coaches tactics or play pearce’s game. Can PEARCE adapt or will they need to revert to play to Pearce’s game.

with so many roosters in their team will the play Robbo’s style or play to another plan?

There is risk buying so significantly from a single club

Axe I'm not so sure that Pearce will be the defining factor. I do think that he's done himself (and the Roosters) a favour via his 'new start'. But it could well be that the guys like Connor Watson and Pongia prove to be the real excitement machines for the Knights. At the Roosters it was actually Carney in 2010 or Maloney in 2013 and even Keary last year that sparked most of our line breaks or showed the real finesse in their short kicking games. Pity Keary isn't a goal-kicker like Carney and Maloney but we can't have it all.

But I agree that if Brown can get the team gelling then they can be a force. And yes there will be the temptation to implement Roosters moves via Pearce and with Guerra being such a good positional runner near the line etc. It seems like Brown has lost faith in Hodgkinson altogether, or that his knees are not up to the rigours of first grade, as his kicking game is the equal of Pearce's and he adds goal-kicking to the mix.

We are made favourites by the bookies based on gaining Cronk and Tedesco and a supposedly favourable draw, but any Roosters fan knows we have plenty of weaknesses too. Very inexperienced centres, not sufficient forward depth, and lack a proven goal kicker. Plus......... JWH is past his best, Napa is hot and cold...... mostly cold. Friend needs to improve his speed out of dummy half, Ferguson is a worry. I believe Latrell Mitchell will play a big part in our success or failure. If he improves his defence and keeps getting stronger in attack we will give the comp a huge shake. But I still remember the words of Jack Gibson, about a coach wearing out his welcome after 3 years. Trent is a very likeable guy but I just wonder if he has gotten too close to a few of the players to be impartial when some tough decisions need to be made. I believe we have a very good chance this year, but certainly no better than The Cowboys, Storm, or Riff,
