Keen to follow this. I heard that cordners knee was so bad that if this operation doesn’t do what it’s supposed to then he will retire.

Cordner is set to return to training early next month after a revolutionary stem cell procedure.

Sydney Roosters and NSW Origin captain Boyd Cordner has had successful stem-cell treatment on his knee and will return to training next week, News Corp Australia reports.

The Sunday Telegraph reports Cordner, who has played just 30 games for the Roosters in the past two seasons, had his own fat tissue injected into the troublesome tendon.

Bulldogs enforcer Aaron Woods had a similar procedure four years ago.

"I'll be at training on the fifth of January and I will ease back into it," Cordner, who was part of the Australian team which won the Rugby League World Cup earlier this month, told The Sunday Telegraph.

"But I'll be in full training by the end of January.

"I didn't have to have surgery. It was just a stem cell injection, so I didn't have to go under the knife at all. It is going really well."

By the sound of it, it isn’t even surgery and recovery time is just the time he woulda spent off regardless. Cords doesn’t need as much prep as others to sharpen up before the season and he’s been crunched by massive rep duties, so benefits from a little bit of rest/recovery rather than going back to training ASAP.

I hope this is right for two reasons: a) we need cordner, b) stem cells actually work (doubt it)

A success only if we re-sign him.

Got a bad feeling about Cordner. IF he was to depart in 2019 then I don't think he'd be the last of the departures. If Cordner did go to Newcastle, then I think the relationship between the Roosters and Knights would become , lets just say, not positive / not constructive.

BTW Chook, I'm still waiting on you to announce "Guess Who's Coming?"

So let's get this right. You are saying he will not extend his current deal?

the jury is still out for me

once he has at least 10 games consecutively I would deem the procedure a positive
