With the draw in front of us this year (it is weak as piss), I'll be shocked if we don't go deep into the finals.

But as others have said, if our outside defence is as suspect s last year, then that is where we will finish.

Matthew Johns has more football nouse you could ever hope to have. There is a very good reason why many clubs, including the Storm, have him privately tutor their young halves. I would much prefer that Matthew Johns be involved in our club than his brother.

Matthews Johns assessment of the Chooks in 2018 is pretty much spot on I reckon, and much of it was obvious to anyone, including many Chooks fans. There is nothing sinister about it. I would trust his assessment over that of his drug addled brother.

I always laugh at that belter he came out with when the chooks were having their pre game warm up against sounds Rd 1 2013.

On SBW : "you know he doesn't look that big compared to the other players"

        Jealousy eh? Haha

          Haha I remember that.

Was it Matty & Tallis or Hindmarsh who were saying that SBW was a big forward when he left the game but since he'd been away the game had evolved and now he looked small compared to other forwards and would struggle.

I liked Robbo's rebuttal to the claims that Cronk will take time to gel with the team.

Said something along the lines of if you work hard enough and train hard enough the combinations will be there.

In fairness to Robbo he has the runs on the board in this department. Both Maloney & Keary hit the ground running very early in their respective debut seasons as brand new signings and didn't need time to build into the season.

M Johns is almost right except I cannot see how we can finish top 4 with very very very average depth - the 18 from 2017 final is now 13 (Pearce/Evans/Gordon/Watson/Guerra leaving) - they added 2 in Cronk and Tedesco (who will struggle to retain his NSWO place one has to say) and have only Robinson (116 NRL Games- basically signed as a fill in) and Cornish (19 NRL games ) with any real NRL Experience others have either 2 / 1 or no NRL experience in the squad - Any one who rates the Roosters as favourites needs to be certified -7th or 8th finish at best I suggest

mate the draw is based on 2017 results not what may happen in 2018 - many teams have improved their squads/changed coaches etc - we have lost 5 players from the 18 from our last game and replaced them with 2 - look at our squad for NRL experience - it is very very minimal after the first 18- we will be lucky to finish in the top 8

When the going got tough and we were struggling for points...Guerra always seemed to come up with a try. [2013 GF and ever since] Tricky decision to let him go or keep him.
Evans and Watson, think we can cover them with other players.
Gordon gave us good service, and wanted to go for family reasons? his wish was granted. Where would we have played him, there isn't unlimited money/cap?
Manu seems better that last year.

Storm and Cowboys should be rated 1 and 2.

Yep Tedesco will struggle to keep his spot for nsw.
You gotta put some bait on the hook.

                          All well and good.
I dont rate the Chooks as favourites for some of the reasons that have been put up.
I think we are about 3rd, slightly ahead of Parra in my rankings.
You say 7th or 8th at best.
Who are the 6 or 7 teams you reckon who are certainties to finish above us?

Lol, especially when Freddy is the coach.

He may have made some good points , but we will see.
I still don't know how that low life gang banger is in the media though.

I tend to agree with what he said. I think the thing that the Chooks need the most is some mongrel. JWH & Napa aren't hard enough so teams like North Queensland, Melbourne, Parra & the Sharks who all have a harder edge then the Chooks will bring the bacon home. Hope Im wrong.
