So long as you finish with the phrase "gamble responsibly" ....then it's ok.

We don't have cigarette and alcohol sponsors in the NRL (As far as I am aware) due to problems these cause in society and gambling is no different and should be treated in the same way.

If Unibet are prepared to put money into our club to sponsor them then I don't have a problem with it. I have no interest in gambling and there being on our jersey is not going to change that.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why any sport should have limitations on who and what can sponsor them - be it smokes, booze or betting. It's up to individuals to decide whether or not they indulge in those products. No one is forcing anyone to partake in them.

Cars can be killers, yet no one has a second thought about them sponsoring sport as they do. Phones in cars can kill, but telco companies can sponsor whatever they like. What about Maccas, KFC etc, who can do as much damage to your health as booze and fags but are able to sponsor sports. Since when have Coke and Pepsi been good for us, but they are able to put their logo where they choose.

If we keep putting limitations on who can sponsor sports, the sports will struggle to survive long term. And in the end, it's up to each of us individually as to whether we indulge in the products on the Chooks jerseys.

If you head out on Saturday night to our biggest sponsor you'll see drinking, gambling & smoking in all it's glory.

Lets get real here, our history, Rugby League's history is deeply embedded in the blue collar classes who love a drink and a bit of a punt.

                Ok.
Forget all the phoney moralising about what is good for our health.
Forget about the evil monster called "Gamblor" , that enslaves some of us.
                All that debate is irrevelent.

                It's simple.
Any sport that ties itself to sports betting is asking for trouble.
The nrl or any club should distance themselves from this activity, and should not be taking their money.

No one forcing anyone to gamble its their choice - too much nanny state stuff wanting to ban it etc. - heard the sports dude on the ABC wanting gambling and fast food sponsorship of sport stopped too - mmm maybe tax payers funds should stop funding the ABC - The laborlite /watermelon (greens) mouthpiece

As much as I am sick to death of seeing hearing all this betting garbage whether that be with Spotsbet, William Hill, Bet365, TAB god the list is bloody endless and personally I couldn't give a Rats Ass but the NRL stopped cigarette and alcohol sponsorship a long time ago (Not State of Origin ) due to the effects both these substances has on the public in general as addiction, problems it causes in families ect ect. My point was if they stopped the sponsorship of the said substances then they should using THEIR same logic also refuse sponsorship from these betting agencies as gambling has just as many problems associated with that... I just seems a bit hypocritical... As I said personally I couldn't care less to be honest just making a point.

Im just wondering do people think that if a team is sponsored by a betting agency that they are going to influence the teams results?

Said the same to a mate on Saturday. I don't like these gambling companies, but I can hardly imagine someone is going to see the jersey and decide to take up gambling and open an account. Some hardcore supporters might switch from another company to unibet but that would be it. See how Easts Leagues makes their money and it puts things into perspective.

ISIS is an evil terrorist organisation.

Mums want us to refer to this group as ISIL...as many girls are named 'Isis'.

It is like smoking. In your group it might seem like it is ,,in our DNA,, but I cannot really think of many people who do it.

PS - I have lots of friends who vote for the Greens and support social/environmental activism. Not sure why you are so opposed to them and (subtly) muslims.

Welcome Unibet...thank you for your sponsorship.

Poker machines...in all Easts Group's clubs...are 'gambling'...and provide valuable revenue.

                                Betting is legal.
Killing and eating chickens is legal...as is keeping chickens in cages.
                                Some people are against both.
                                Lotto/Lotteries is gambling.
                                Horse racing/Melbourne Cup...betting/gambling.

mrs bondi-boy likes to play the poker machines...$20 limit.
Same as spending the money on movies, fine dining, holidays.
Some years ago the gearbox in our 'commuter' car had gone. In the 'depths of despair', no money to have it fixed ['asset-rich', 'cash-poor']...mrs b-b was lucky to win the hundreds of dollars cost with her $20 one night.
"Discretionary spending"...some people bet, some people buy yachts, new cars, diamond-studded collars for their pets, etc.

                                Personal responsibility.
