Eddie, I'm not suggesting we're cheating. Much the same way the storm weren't cheating when they introduced the wrestling tactics to the game. They're playing within the rules but it's getting ugly. We are just pushing the rules to their uppermost limits. Why else would we need to sign Schubert? Look at the roster of the Roosters and the Cowboys versus the roster of the Dragons, Raiders, Tigers, Titans etc. We all apparently have the same salary cap though. It's these third party agreements I have a problem with. Don't get me wrong, i'd much prefer to be on the winning side of it, as we are, but it's hardly an even playing field anymore. I'm not hating the player but rather the game. It needs to do something, i'm not sure what though.

I love having a successful club but the state of the game is what's important and is what makes it so tribal, competitive and valuable to the fans. If the Roosters, Broncos, Cowboys and Storm have another decade in the top 4 due to the ability to negotiate better TPA's then i think the game suffers.

I agree totally bigchook. the TPA is whats killing the game. the drongos did it their australian squad in 1989 - 1991. luckier played for $80k in his final year to keep under the cap.. probably assistant captain coach

I've been informed, or perhaps misinformed, that penrith, the berries and souths have more TPAs than us.
It's a deadset given that melbourne, cows and broncos ptd ltd beat us in that department as well.

But, agree or not , massive chook, I do apologise for being rude.

          How about a sensible suggestion?

I reckon any player that has a decades service with the same club should be entitled to a testimonial season.
Cricket has been doing this for ages.

It's a good promotion for the game, encourages loyalty, and rewards players who may have taken less money to remain at their original team.
Fans would love it, and lets face it, 10 years of first grade rugby league is a bloody good achievement.

I know, the short-sighted nrl wont allow it, but they have really displayed how stupid and hypocritcal they are by allowing this sickening jt and grub wankfest, yet refusing other players the same opportunity.
Ten years with the same club...............simple qualification.
          Screw the salary crap.

If Sonny wanted to play for a struggling club rather than us, do you think the NRL would welcome him back?
            ..it’ll be interesting to see

Well, they are becoming famous for double standards, and seem to alter the rules as they stumble towards their goal of making the game a joke.
