Cut by the Bulldogs, a month into a 3 year $1.3M deal for turning up late to training and weight issues. With Bernard Lewis going down and a lack of backline depth, what's the harm in offering him a second tier contract and trying to get his head right. Could be useful as a depth player in case of injuries. Has talent, just a poor attitude. IMO could be worth a small investment. If it doesn't work out, no loss.

He just got cut from two clubs in 2 months for attitude issues.
If any club is stupid enough to give him a contract tomorrow he wont learn anything from the mistakes he's just made.
Sounds like the kid needs a reality check, I'm all for giving people another chance but this guy needs to go away and learn some harsh life lessons first.

This kid is a good example of the madness that is infiltrating our sport.
The wests team paid him a crazy amount of money and the berries showed they are just as stupid these days.
The term spoilt brat comes to mind.
Apparently after stuffing up a few times at belmore in a short space of time he was about to be punted, but begged for one more chance. That lasted until the very next training session where he waltzed in late again.
Mind you, for a months worth of training where he put in no effort at all, he left the joint pocketing a cool 144 grand !
He is fat, lazy and immature.
Maybe a season or two in the bush may help him grow up, but he'll probably follow the same path as Willis Meehan.
Our club is too smart to throw huge dollars at a lost cause.

I was probably about his level in a different sport. However, needed the motivation to get up and train without any money involved. I eventually quit (and studied law - doubt he will do that) because I knew I was never gonna make the olympic team (for context, 4 super elite Australians make the team for my event and I was top-20 in Australia). If somebody had paid me $65k a year to train full-time (at that age) then I woulda spent it all on the best diet possible, best training possible and frigging smashed it out like a champ. Not saying I woulda gone anywhere but IMO that is really where elite athletes should be at - farking keen to train no matter what and super grateful for any money coming their way.
I just dunno where your head is at if you are getting like $500k a year and you still cannot turn up to training. I remember I quit footy for this reason - a lot of big farkers would punt me because I was never gonna be their size (I remember our local rep coach just asked for your height and weight, watched no games and was like mmmkay... forward? I wnt 190cm and 100kg). I was a sprinter so this was really unfair because I was a very powerful loose forward with explosive speed, but weighed 75kg. On paper this was very deceptive because I wasn,t carrying any fat. IMO footy should consider recruiting smarter players rather than larger players or they risk turning into the NBA, where it is just 2m+ dudes limbering around the court.
Maybe I am just bitter (okay I am just bitter) but fark this guy! He has a good build for lifting bags of concrete around building sites for monimum wage. Maybe when he can turn up to a building site on time consistently for 24 months clubs can consider him... if he has the motivation to eat a good diet, get fit, stay off the durries and behave himself.Last edited by ism22; 03-01-2018, 08:44 AM.
