  • Cronk played ~3 days after a stingray bite...

Just listened to Roosters radio. I thought that nrl.com clip about the stingray bite rumour was just a quirky denial of something that never happened. However, Mini confirmed that it was a stingray bite and he couldn,t teain last week. Not blaming it for our loss but that is some crazy resilience there!

Stingrays kill people, It was just a blue bottle But there definately would of been some swelling and pain in his foot no doubt. I wonder if it was his kicking foot or not? He still kicked a 4/20 and forced a couple of drop outs regardless!

I hope we thrash the dogs this week with Keary

I'm not a marine biologist, but I'm pretty sure stingrays don't have teeth. None of the rays do.

It was a bluebottle sting for Cronk, and he'd have been over it in about an hour max.

Heard it was a stingray. It stung him on the foot not bit him. They can kil (eg a bolt to the heart)l but usually not if they sting you on the foot. May have been a juvenile or baby one too.

I saw quite a few at my local beach a few weekends ago, they were juvenile ones.

They're called stingrays for a reason. Different story had he have been attacked by a biteray. I think stingrays do have some kind of teeth though. More impressed with SKD playing with a broken jaw, but apparently that is heresy around here since he no longer plays for us.

We need George Costanza to sort this mess out.

I heard he got his head ripped clean off by a great white.
Uncle Nick arranged the reattachment in time for him to take the field.
Cooper is a tough little Rooster.

Some news articles mention stingray and others mention jelly fish and when you read the jelly fish ones it says jelly fish/blue bottle.

Sorry wrong word, stung. A friend of mine got out of a boat and stepped on one, got stung and was out for like 6 months.

Please note, I was hoping to start discussion about how this mighta impacted his game and our cohesion given we had to prepare without him. May I suggest that those more interested in the technical aspects of stingray injuries refer to:

Although I don't know the true extent of his injury, I don't think that it will have any measurable impact on his game this weekend. He should play as per the game plan, maybe only a tiny bit less agile than normal. I doubt that the injury would have any influence on his leadership skills though. I do like the shark attack story with Dr Nick Frankenstein sewing his head back on. It does ask the question though, what if the stitches broke and his head fell off and knocked the ball forward, resulting in a try. Would that be ruled a knock on?

Stingrays don't bite though?? the stings are caused by the barb on their tail spine- need to tune in on Davey Attenborough's doco's

Attenborough, the headmaster's favourite son. You can find him sitting atop Mount Nepotism as it gradually refuses to sink.
