this confuses me.. and we are hearing it more this year then ever before.. every game and almost every footy show brings up that all we care about is winning the comp... and they always paint it as a negative... but why? isnt the goal for everyone to win the comp? lol... its odd to be hearing this so much as if its a bad thing to strive to win the comp.... very odd.

Teams are hoping to make the 8 and if they can finish top 4 then the hopes of winning the comp increase obviously

Not every year is a season that realistically a team can win the comp such as in 2012 our goal wasn't to win the comp and we didn't have the team to do it but this year yeah I think at a minimum if we don't make the grand final it is a failure unless we get season ending injuries to Cronk, Tedesco, Keary etc

i understand that... but its everyones goal to eventually build a team to win the comp.... thru training, coaching or good purchases in the off season... everyone is in it to eventually win it... we just happen to be in a good spot to maybe contend for it again... i just dont see why people keep saying it like we are the only ones... we didnt get here in 1 day... we have had down yeaars too...

In this day and age no team can win a comp without lady luck helping out.
All we can do is put ourselves in a position to have a crack at it towards the end of the season.

right... my favorite line is we "buy premierships" .... its 2018... every single team does we we do... we just happen to be better at it. and even then just money isnt enough to win the comp..

What do you mean by this? I can't draw a distinction between a herd like mentality (Too many sheep follow this game), and following a football club; tribalism, blind faith sans logic. I would hate it if fans of other clubs supported my team. That's what it's all about.

Okay, I see what you mean, but it is never going to stop. Easts are always going to be hated by all other club's supporters. I used to hate this fact, but for many years now I have accepted it because it always makes our victories sweeter than other club's victories.

Sheep are not as much followers as what most believe anyway.
