The photo was of them leaving the courthouse around 2am. The way I read it was that the cabbie that drove them from the golden sheaf to the courthouse hotel rang the telucrap and they sent out some bloke to wait outside and take the photos as they came out. That is more plausible than the cabbie taking the photo on his camera. Unless I'm missing something.

They are apparently going to try to get Prince to retire.

Tobin guesses time will tell but the first part of the puzzle seems to be in place.

Tobin will be very surprised if Todd plays for us again.
Perhaps Tobin should've hedged his bets for Carney to seek legal advice over his immenent sacking.
You're the legal buff Tobin !

The fact that Searle would be implicated if it was fact is the only reason I can think of to disbelieve the rumour. It would be surprising if he would try that on Uncle Nick.

And for those saying he could have asked for a release - get serious. He would never have been given one.

Tobin knows nothing about unfair dismissal.

If the club sacks Todd Carney for a non-illegal act then he can come back and sue us for not only the remainder of his contract but also restraint of trade and unfair dismissal.

He's better in the tent pissing out than the alternative.

We don't know what clauses were added or controls were put in place last time he played up. By the sounds of things, the board thinks it has grounds for dismissal, I don't think they would be considering sacking him otherwise.

i think the real test to see if Carney wants out will be his defence.

If he wants to stay, he will get his representative to put up a strong case about how the club should keep him and how he will be determined to build trust ect ect.

If he wants to go, his defence will leave the club no choice.

From todays "Sin Bin" in the SMH

                            BONJOUR, TODD

Catalans is shaping as Todd Carney's last refuge if he is sacked by Sydney Roosters and can't get another NRL club next season. NRL chief executive David Gallop has made it clear that he would need to be convinced Carney would not bring further embarrassment on the code before he would register a new contract for the troubled star, and England is not an option as he was unable to get a visa in 2009 to play for Huddersfield. While Carney's path to England was blocked because of numerous drink-driving offences, he would be permitted to play in France, and has a relationship with Catalans coach Trent Robinson, who was Brian Smith's assistant at the Roosters last season.

Except that with other clubs closing the door on him and being deregisterd still an option, a vigorous defence might mean he is fighting just to save his pay packet, as opposed to showing he has any desire to be playing at the Roosters.

Based on his actions, not the bullshit statements that are written for him to read out, he doesn't want to be here.

Get rid of him - who cares if he gets picked up by another club. Piss him off and start the rebuilding process now

Carney has to go, its a shame, but he's killing the club, and quickly too, but its not all doom, I have seen alot of Blake Lazarus, at Newtown, I know its a different class level, but a good footballer is a good footballer, no matter what the level is, and he has a very competant game, he's no super star, but has alot of skills in his game. For mine, Pearce is just not cutting it at halfback, but he has a great long passing game, ideally suited for the 5/8 position, and a good defensive game, I think him and Lazarus, would go ok together, I'd like to see them trialled in those positions, for the remainder of the season.
