Game Managers stress the hell outta me.
I hear you eddie, you shouldn't watch it mate.

When I feel keyed up, often I go in with the assumption we will lose. The other angle I use is, no amount of me being pissed off will change anything. It really is just entertainment. As a result I don't get anywhere near as fired up as I used to.

Oh - and when we do lose - I love the meltdowns on here, so there is that to look forward to as well. Almost a week of crazy (like this one).

Probably right. I often wonder what motivates trolls. I don't see the point in not being fair dinkum.

        • For my 4000th Chookpen post I would like to say a big come on Chooks, let’s beat this niggling, annoying grubby team. I’m not confident playing this mob as I never am, and it’s all the more worse at their home ground with Cummins as chief game manager, but we can win this if we HOLD THE BALL and COMPLETE OUR SETS. Apart from beating Souffs there’s nothing better than beating the grubs Gallen, Fifita, Graham, Flanno and co.

Its also pretty boring to see the regular roosterchook "Robbo is a c*nt" posts. You are consistent though, I'll give you that!
            Thank you!!

            • Trent is kidding by sticking to the same team,I thought Baptiste would’ve been a chance for a bench spot to add some variety..
Sticking solid by his boys for yet another week, hope they repay him with a win!

I think there are multiple reasons for trolling:
                1. As a bully tactic... trolls often pick on people who they think are weak or vulnerable. These guys are like any other bully in that they are digging for a reaction and/or trying to fit in with a douchebag group of bullies/elitists. IMO this is not cool IMO.
                2. For political purposes or for social gain people often flood the conversation with cr@p (that needs to be answered although it has no value), try to cause doubt in reasonable conclusions or they intentionally simplify/mislead. This is also not cool.
                3. For revenge. Something happened online and they are trolling themselves back into the game. This is a grey area IMO. I always like to cheer for underdogs and those who fight the big, evil system so sometimes these guys are cool (e.g. when a mod or a group of stupid elitists are being douchebags and they troll them senseless... often it is just some bitter ciggy butt brain who needs to go and rub one out instead though... even then, the fights can be ignored and it is sorta your fault if you feed them).
                4. For fun... they are a joker and like to say silly stuff and/or create oddly named alts because it adds to the atmosphere and prevents people from getting too serious. I often like this style (even when I am being serious... like clever satire and stuff).

IMO just because discussion is online, doesnt mean it is different from real life. You will get your bullies, crazy activists, clowns...etc just like anywhere else.

Trolling seems to be used to describe just about anybody who speaks against the flow of conversation. I dont think this is something that should be frowned upon per se.

                • I almost don’t want to watch this game. It’s guaranteed to be a low scoring boring niggly slow game with lots of penalties. Just as the sharks like it.

I think we can win a close one though as long as we don’t get sucked in by the inevitable niggle.

But then you replace Radley with Baptiste and Radley had a good game?

Honestly... it has only been 4 games and we have a 50 per cent success rate. IMO sticking with the same team is good because people need to own the loss and aim higher next week. We need to learn how to gel too, and too much chopping/changing prevents that.

Stick with the team. If we lose a heap of other games 30-6 then what do you do?

OF NOTE... I see that Sticky has punted a heap of key players down to reserve grade (I saw Austin and a few others got punted). See how that goes. One catch 22 is that you really should try to field your best team. Even if (for example) Teddy, Cronk and Cords have been a bit ordinary... naming Cornish (Roos FB last week BTW), Baptiste and Vunakece to replace them probably isnt an amazing idea.

I hear what you are saying and do agree sticking to the same team is good for continuity and building combinations..
I think I’m just frustrated with Friend and want someone more creative to help create opportunities up the middle..
I just hope the boys put on a special performance to get the win tonight..

I watched the interview and didn’t hear that at all.

he definitely fired a shot at the pride of the players.
