Happy for him to play as long as we drop 2 of the other 3 to bring in some size to offset our small forward toilers

so you would play 4 similar players / toilers in our rotation? You do not think we need a couple more big boppers in the squad, Gallen was and still would have been a plodder if if was not for the juice he was on, I am over forwards that get in the way when an attack is on, refuse to look for an offload when it is on, ot even a sentimental chick like yourself could handle watching that

I like the fact that Butcher is willing to offload the ball, the downside is we have no one who bothers to support the ball carrier.

Teddy loves broken play. Give him time he's still finding his feet.

Cronk and Keary aren't bad support players either.

The best offload Butcher has too is his real late one, which doesn't give you broken play because the defence is already set but it's like an extra play in the tackle count.

I seen and met both Barry ' The Axe/Bunny' Reilly and Kevin ' Stumpy' Stevens and the rest of the team in the sheds at full time way back in 1975 when we beat Manly at the SCG - Got all my Scanlon footy cards signed plus Big Jack Gibson's signature as well (on a pierce of paper as no Scanlon Coaches cards)- people may not know or remember that Barry ' The Axe/Bunny' Reilly was 5ft 3 in the old scale and Kevin 'Stumpy' Stevens 5ft 5 or 5ft 6 in the old scale- Both played way above their size and weight and both great Roosters players.

Kevin 'Stumpy' Stevens retired at the end of 1980- Big Jack Gibson took over coaching Parramatta for the 1981 season - He tried to get Tim Sheens to leave Penrith to play for Parra but he said no and so he contacted Stumpy who reluctantly said yes and went onto to play an important role in Parra's first grand final win - Sterling even says to this day that Stumpy was the toughest player he played with as Stumpy's knees were shot and could only do limited training as a result.

All would remember Peter Peters saying that if Parra won the comp with Bob O'Reilly and Kevin Stevens as props he would walk from Wollongong to Palm beach in thongs- inundated with thongs when they did he made the walk with his mate Greg Hartley.

The late off load is the best one especially when you have other players outside in motion looking like they may get the ball as the defence will be sliding to accommodate this possibility- Need to have a player coming from just behind for the short pass in the line - seen many a try already this year from this - Trouble is the Roosters try this but the player is coming from too far back for this to work.

According to Wikipedia Butcher is 20 years old, 184 cms tall and weighs 97 kgs.... certainly not a rag doll. He played for Australian schoolboys at age 16 and captained our NYC side to a premiership in 2016.Maybe he deserves a chance, more than the 4 appearances he has had.

Don't worry that offload will soon be coached out of him. Tedesco is there every play waiting for an offload he must be dumber than he looks.

There's a huge difference between starting footy & coming off the bench and a young middle third forward who has 2 games under his belt shouldn't be starting games yet. I don't think we should reduce him to a tackling machine either, I think he could potentially be a bit an unlock for Teddy with his short passing game & offloading game around the ruck. I like the idea of Butcher coming off the bench against some tired forwards where he can do more than just be a battering ram.
So many times you see blokes killing it off the bench and aren't anywhere as near as good off the bench . I liked what I've seen of Butcher so far. He has a bit of late footwork that gets him between players and looks to pop a ball. We have to accept there will be a few errors when players offload but I think it's worth the punt . I think Radley was on at the time when butcher offloaded. That's his job along with teddy and the halves to be there to support him.
