Gary's Hero of the Week - tied between Tommy Turbo and the refs.

Gary's Zero of the Week - Fergo. Got owned twice by Uate in very defendable one on ones. He was saved by the forward pass call. We were defending that set because of Fergo's knock on.

Also thought Manu had a very good game and deserved much better than a 5.

Fergo is terrible in those one on one defensive situations close to the line. He should be able to handle them much better.

Hedger you need to start explaining your ratings and how you arrived at them. If you think Matterson played better than SST than you have no idea. I’d like to know how Cronk is rated better than SST too when he gave away a penalty, didn’t assist anything and gave away two 7 tackle sets and one of them came from our own half.

The big plays impact the ratings. SST was standing still when Manly’s scored their first try. He went for a totally unnecessary offload with a minute and a half to go when the game should have been closed down. And he sprinted out of the line at the end leaving a yawning gap. In the modern game stats alone like meters gained and tackles only tell part of the story. His meters were good but one out and uneventful. To be fair, JWH was better this week. Now SST is one of our best and I expect he will be leading from the front as the season progresses.

No, I was at the game. I expect that some that are questioning my ratings (which they a absolutely entitled to do) may be basing their views on the tv coverage. Often, this doesn’t tell the full story. Some observations:
- Cronk is the real captain of the team and leads the play. Sure he’smade mistakes, but tries to get the best out of other players
- Teddy’s positional play in attack and defence is very good, and once he gets his rhythm, he’ll be one of our best
- Matterson is ok I defence but offers nothing in attack. The ball goes two wide to Cordner - as it should - rather than to him.
- Latrell wants to break the game open but is restricted by the game plan. This will change, and he will be our best
-The forwards are rarely breaking the line. However Liu and JWH proved there is some gain to be made by keeping on pumping beyond the defensive line
