How benevelont of you Roc. I eagerly await your future threads O Sage One.
It always surprises me when someone comes out with a thread, like yours, asking for 'where are the Mini lovers' or "Ryles baggers' etc etc etc...That is very childish like a school yard taunt...You obviously forgot to put..nah nah nah nah nah!!!
Other than that, you have good comments, but not this one IMHO!

Soward was wearing a few battle scars at the end of the game head bandaged and eye leaking claret, obviously some one tagged him good , maybe that is what took his mind off the job at hand

          http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226115422899

JAMIE Soward's immediate future in the St George Illawarra team is hanging by a thread - and there is a genuine chance the NSW five-eighth will be dumped ahead of Friday night's crucial showdown with the Storm.

Talked up by King Wally Lewis as the player who should claim Darren Lockyer's No. 6 Kangaroo jumper before Origin III this year, Soward's form has plummeted to the point where he is basically a liability to his club side. The Dragons playmaker performed like a passenger against the Roosters on Sunday and was clearly hampered by a back injury - despite assuring coach Wayne Bennett that he was fit to play.

Bennett pulled no punches in his post-match comments when he basically said Soward needed to take ownership of his poor performance and not use injury as an excuse. False promises won't be tolerated again when Bennett talks to him ahead of naming his team this afternoon.

So the question is: what sort of assurances can Soward give the coach to convince him he won't let the team down again in a blockbuster the Dragons simply cannot afford to lose?

The Daily Telegraph can also reveal some disturbing statistics that prove Soward's impact on games since State of Origin this year have nose-dived.

Fox Sports Stats show that since round 12, Soward's line breaks, tackle busts and try assists have more than halved as the misfiring Dragons tumbled from the top of the NRL table to seven losses and just three wins during that same period.

If they lose this weekend, the Dragons are likely to drop to as low as seventh on the ladder behind the Warriors and the Tigers, who should win their respective games against the Panthers and Eels.

Soward isn't the only Dragon whose form has disappeared since Origin. But because of his crucial position, his efforts have had a dramatic impact on the team's success.

          The statistics don't lie.

And after injuring his back in the loss to the Wests Tigers - where he put his hand up to be replaced, only to be told to tough it out - Soward hit rock bottom against the Roosters.

Astonishingly, on Sunday he made only three runs for 24m, only eight kicks for 256m, missed two tackles (one led to a try), threw an intercept pass and refused to take a bomb.

          Put simply, he was awful.

In comparison, Rooster Mitch Pearce's statistics highlight just how poor Soward really was.

"He was asked on a number of occasions whether he was fit to play," Bennett said after Sunday's loss. "He did a full training session with us (on Saturday). He said he was right to play. There was no pressure from the club for him to play, so you've got to assume he was fit. He did everything at training except kick and we knew he wasn't going to kick today. That was a decision that he didn't want to kick."

Given the Dragons are on a four-game losing streak and facing the toughest road trip in the NRL, Bennett can't afford to gamble on him again.

If Soward is stood down, it is most likely Nathan Fien will shift to five-eighth. But Kyle Stanley is also an option at No. 6.

If Fien is moved, Mitch Rein would come back into the top grade at hooker.

But the other concern is what lasting effect dumping Soward would have on his confidence in the countdown to the finals.

While he doesn't deserve to be in first grade on form, without him firing come finals time the Dragons would have little hope of winning back-to-back titles.

If he thinks times are bad now, imagine what it will be like when the Dragons fans see past Bennett haze and realise they have the Pre bennett Soward in their Number 6

                  No suprises.

See the thing is Saints aren't playing well enough to carry/hide him and now he is being exposed.

I have been saying all along you could of put any half in the comp in those Dragons teams when they were dominating and they would look good.

Besides his kicking he is a fringe first grader.

maybe bennett is doing it on purpose so he does not have to face the knights in the finals???

How many times has a coach of one team faces the team they will be coaching in the next season in the finals???

don't like Soward at all and I've made no point of hiding that over the years, and while I must admit a lot of it comes from the way he seems to rip us up whenever we play the dragons, I also think he's been overhyped like nothing else, as young halves often are, give me Pearce over a non-Bennett coached Soward every day of the week.

that said he clearly shouldn't have been playing on Sunday and I don't know if it was a fair performance for the dragons to judge him on. He was one of the many passengers in that team on the weekend, and they can scape goat him as much as they want but it's not going to give them much form.
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

Weren't there a few on here saying we should get him back?
Swapping him for Pearce or Carney?

I was one of those people..I also was quite happy when we let him go..

And i still believe we should make an attempt to bring him home,if he wants to return..

I'm so sick of seeing people like Mason & Carney take a huge dump over our club..& Soward, for all his defensive weaknesses,is a cleanskin..

He left the club in the correct manner..unlike Judas Wing who some on here want back..

I don't want the club to throw the chequebook at him..but if he wants to come home,on fair money, then i have no problem with it at all..

The kid has played a hell of a lot more good games than bad for St Merge..

And he played ALL OVER Carney in the GF..

That's true, but he just hasn't looked the same this year without his partner in crime Archer.....the Dragons have missed him badly this season.

I agree mate. If it were possible and we sacked Carney and signed Soward I think him ann Pearce would make a formidable halves pairing. The only weakness is that they both have strong kicking games and don't run it a lot. Soward could develop that part of his game though. He is super fast and we have seen how dangerous he can be when he does run. Certainly his defence is no weaker than Carney.
