There's certainly a rumour, who knows how much truth there is to it.

All I know is he's alot more established than the other options we've got, there's already enough inexperience in the team without handicapping ourselves by introducing more.

I was thinking about this today and I can understand if the club does not throw the bank at him.. I like him as a player, he has been a standout in the past couple months however he seems to be a predominant right side backrower. The same side Mitchell Aubusson covered and excelled in last season. Maubs is also more an 80 minute player than Guerra so has less need for a straight replacement off the bench. However my preference is Maubs to play Lock which might happen if Carney is sacked and Anasta goes to 5/8.

I then considered the other options. Boyd Cordner looks to me also like he favours playing on the right and I think we all agree that this guy is going to be a big part of our future back row. Also Brad Taikarangi also seems more a right than left sided player so we have lots of depth there. On the left currently we have Anasta but if we consider he is not a long term alternative we have Ethan Lowe who reminds me of Fitzgibbon a little in terms of his high workrate and I hope he can make the step up to First grade and Cherrington of course but I think we can't rely on him at this stage. Jack Bosden has also been signed but I have not seen much of him so not exactly sure of his preferred spot and also whether he will be in our top 17 at the start of next year.

There is also Frank Paul but he really needs a big offseason to get back into contention and ditto Tom Symonds. Both these guys have been big dissapointments this season. However the smoky is BJ, probably not next season but I think he maybe keeping the left side centre position warm for Moga and from there will probably move into the pack and possibly to remain on the left where he has spent this season and probably next in the backline. So with all these back row options I can understand if the club does not throw too much coin Guerra's way.

contrary to popular belief, guerra is actually a left sided player as opposed to a right sided player. i think you will find that he was moved to the right because anasta is predominantly a left sided player in the backrow whereas if you look at the games he has played baring the weekend against the saints where anasta either has played 5/8 or hasnt played at all you will find that he has been a left-sided player and that is where he has played the majority of his career

I'm sure he began on the left last seaon before getting injured.

He has become very good at getting on the outside of his man on the right edge and he has a very good right arm offload back in field off half breaks down the right. Yes sure he started with us on the left but I think certain attributes of his game are better suited to playing on the right side. But hell I'd take the bloke whatever side he wants to play.

Likewise, Boyd Cordner has played most of his footy on the left (other than first grade up until the saints game) but he has shown that he is very adaptable and also has brilliant lateral speed to his right. It's a shame to play any of these guys tight when they are such weapons on the edges. I still have some hope for FPN because his game would be perfect for this 'lighter mobile tight forward that can offload and tackle strongly' role.

If Guerra goes, I'd prefer to see Ethan Lowe or Tom Symonds developed as the long-term 80 minute left fringe runner, to compliment Aubusson on the right.

                A good balanced pack...

                grafting prop (50 mins)
                hooker
                grafting prop (50 mins)
                left fringe backrower (80 mins)
                right fringe backrower (80 mins)
                grafting tight lock (50 mins)

                utility
                impact tight lock (30 mins)
                impact prop (30 mins)
                impact prop (30 mins)

I'd love to see Aubusson playing for 80 minutes on the right, one of Lowe/Guerra/Symonds/Leilua playing for 80 minutes on the left, Cordner as the hard working tight lock in the Myles mould (but clearly more dynamic) and one of Nuuausala/Takairangi/Arona as the offloading tight lock in the Tupou mould.

                Lowe has the goods

We have plenty of back rowers playing for the Roosters And others in the under twenties, many showing potential, Guerra has more than potential he has already proved himself to be our best every time he plays.

We need to win games starting in March 2012, or we'll be competing for the spoon again.

We need all the experienced, first grade ready now players we can get.

You'll find most clubs will be thinking along those lines.

I hope you are right for any less than 2 years is crazy, most Clubs are trying for 12 months to see what impact the increase in the Salary Cap will have on cheque accounts.
