Unfortunately I think we'll soon see a lot of our props playing for other first grade teams, probably over the next 3 years. All of Evans, Napa, Tago, Tuivasa, and Lui look like first grade prospects to me. Everyone of these guys consistently makes over 10 metres a run and they all have very handy offload. I'd imagine we'll only be able to keep Evans and Tago. Even that would possibly mean losing JWH or Mose by 2013, especially if Evans comes on strong next year.
As long as we keep the best of the bunch. A lot will depend on Kennedy's long term fitness given the rumours. JWH could still end up at lock too.

Cherro is different player - front row/2nd row, plays closer to the ruck, a much stronger front on defender. Each of these guys can play, Guerra is the least effective defender, hence likely lowest on the pecking order.
this is true. ethan lowe is the one we need to keep around as a fallback plan for guerra. very similar sorts of players imo - both left edge backrowers who are similar in build and both have big engines and can hit holes, score tries and offload at will. out of the two we will only be able to keep 1. i still think its an each way bet. although he hasnt played firsts yet lowe is mighty impressive and wouldnt look out of place in firsts even ahead of guerra. overs for guerra will come back and bite us imo especially with the depth of backrow prospects we have

Totally agree with this. I just don't get the obsession some fans have with edge backrowers taking hit-ups. We usually play a powerful bench and the tight-field players are the most heavily rotated. They need only average about 40 minutes each (a bit more for those with stamina, a bit less for the impact guys) and should be taking pretty much all the hit-ups--even two in a set on occasion if necessary. We certainly only need one tight backrower on the field at any one time. As roz has pointed out, if we are coming off our line, there are usually a couple of dummy-half runs by the outside backs. Then the props/lock should be responsible for the hit-ups before a clearing kick. If we start a set a little further upfield, we should only need about three hit-ups before getting the halves involved, or the hooker looking for a dummy-half scoot against a retreating defence. I don't expect hard yardage from edge-backrowers, I expect them to run good lines, hit holes, combine well with our outside backs, deliver attacking offloads and be able to find the tryline off our halves when we are in the opposition quarter.

That is the way the game is played, unless the numbers require early ball movement. Its the halves job to read the numbers and guide the team.

JWH could still end up at lock too.
              that would scare some no. 6 & 7's !!
bit left field but I can see the logic, that tackle he did a Steeler Stadium shows his (potential) speed and lateral movement if he trained for that position.

JWH a lock , not that silly - fits the new age lock requirements down to a tee. Will need extra work in the off season.

His enthusiasm might just work at 13? his speed could let him down??

On the discussion about second rowers taking hit-ups - It is hard for them to take any hit ups in a set when they are out on the wing because the wingers have come in for a run. I love the metres and quick play the ball from a great Sam Perrett run but it means having our second rowers on the wing for the rest of the set until the wingers can get back into position.

This basically limits the edge backrowers to minimal hit-ups when coming out of our red zone. If the game plan is to use the strengths of Perrett and co off our on line then the edge backrowers need to be able to run those beautiful lines and damage defenses once we are in an attacking position.

                    Guerra for mine does this.

Damage to the defense is also caused by the haves using the hole running backrowers as a decoy and hitting outside players with the bum ball, who is to calculate what was the correct pass ?

I hear from Muz in another thread it was announced at the awards tonight Guerra has signed on for another year. Great news. By all accounts he had opportunities to go elsewhere for a longer contract. Great sign of respect to the club given his history of injuries. Let's hope we show him the same respect by giving him every opportunity.

I'm suprised after almost 100 posts in this thread as to Aiden Guerra and how much we need to re-sign him, there has been only two posts since he signed on for another year.

Now that he's signed, everybody's stopped agitating about it and so not many posts. Usually the way it works.
