    Where does it end BB?

I mean, where does it come to a point that TC needs to understand that there are ramifications for his actions ?

broken promises/lies are exactly the same, you say one thing and do another, it's a form of deceit and lack of respect, Do we let him get away with it, keep him in the team and tell him "you've been a bad boy, don't do it again"????

Or do we say, "you have broken the trust of the team and the club, Over that past season there has been a lack of respect shown to the club, officials and players, let alone to yourself with broken promises, it's time to be accountable"

Carney needs to be accountable for his actions, it's the way life works !

This is a football club, not a mentoring facility for troubled 25 year olds

Rugby league is a team sport. How many times have you heard players/coaches talk about "playing for the bloke standing next to you"

Carney has demonstrated on many occasions that he isn't a team player. Having non team players as part of a team is extremely detrimental to that team.

As such, it doesn't matter how good a player he is, there is no place for him here.

If the club does keep him, they are deluding themselves by placing a percieved need for short term on field success above the long term good of the team - a dumb and very shortsighted option

      I expect they'll keep him

Myles from "The Leadership Group" was out drinking with him during the ban, spent the whole afternoon and night with him and another player.
Bondi-boy, Carney is 25!! You want to get him a fulltime babysitter to protect him from himself.

You make less sense with every passing post.

Broken promises and lies are different.
I used to promise to clean the bathroom etc on a certain day...then fail to do it...broken promises.
Simple solution, I stopped making promises I couldn't always keep.

I never tell lies. [well unless little white lies to make others feel better but do them no harm].

Broken promises and lies are different.

I'm 'sure' Carney meant the promises when he made them...but wasn't able to carry thru with them.
          Way too hard, I'd say.

He went for counselling and lifestyle change classes at AA and the Salvation Army?

But after a few weeks people often revert to their old ways...it's the way they are...and change is hard.

If Captain Anasta is demanding to play 5/8, Mini is fullback[but only for one season], Pearce is halfback, then where is Carney going to play?
Left right out it seems to me.

But Anasta didn't play well at 5/8 in 2009....or this year in some games.

Me, I'd keep Todd and manage him...we need a goalkicker, Anasta is not it...Anasta will only be playing for one more year, as will Mini.

Didn't they try the 'mentor' caper with Roger Fabri. And guess what, when Carney went out behind his back when Fabri thought he was safe at home it was Fabri who got the sack. And people wonder why there's not too many putting their hand up for the job of babying Todd, when the only people who pay a price are those who attempt to help the pissweak faarkwit.

Maybe Fabri was on borrowed time anyway?

The mentor has to be live in.

His mother is the perfect one to do it, but she's not here?

yeah, but when does he become accountable for his own actions????

yeah give him a minder...What?? sorry. tried that, he lied to the coach and about going to visit his mother only to be out on the drink with Watts, his minder got the sack.

Where does the buck stop ??? when does the world say to todd carney, Enough is enough, time for you to learn that if you screw up, you have to pay the penalty ???

But it's all his mum's fault SM, becuase she won't sacrifice her other family, job, life and friends to move to Sydney and babysit her 25 year old deadbeat son. Shame on her.

                      Pretty much spot on here.

The clubs pulls young guys out of school and away from their families, so they have an obligation to give them more than just football coaching. They also need to guide them and educate them in life skills. And if they do fall off the rails, I think they have an obligation to help them out (ala Jake Friend).

However Carney is 25. He was known to have issues, so the club should've allowed to try and help him out in this regard - which they have (Atherton plus continual support and several second chances). But this obligation and effort needs to be reciprocated by the individual. I can see no sign of Carney making any effort at all to repay the club or even his team mates.

The club has tried. The players have supported him and made exceptions to thier rules. The coach has stood by him. And Carney continues to do as he pleases.

It is time for Carney to go.

He decided not to go to Canberra to see mum as it was wild and raining weather, from memory.
He was living by himself? Fabri dropped him home? Then Watts rang him late at night? [TC can't be left to live by himself]

The club broke its promise to Myles, he had a contract.

The club breaks its promises to any players who have contracts and it decides to dump.

                          Trust is a two-way street.

At this point, you're abusing sarcasm N.C.

I'm being slowly convinced that Carney should go but I sure as hell don't want Anasta back as 5/8th.

And I watched the horror that was 2009.
