Pump, not wanting to be a pedant but Jim Jones and his group suicide using Cyanide laced Grape Flavor Aid, a cordial substitute. A lot of people confuse it by saying drink the Kool Aid, another awful cordial substitute because of a book called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ele...-Aid_Acid_Test by Tom Wolfe, which was actually about LSD.

Whatever happened to Socrates? An all time great from the golden age of roosters forums. We need him back. He'd be sure to have numerous long winded contradictory opinions on all this Carney stuff.

Winding up old socrates sure was good sport. Shooting fish in a barrell, but good fun nonetheless. I miss it.

The Henson Park thread was on the original Wall on the official site back in 2000. Started by who I can't remember, but it had about 1500 replies, began with reminiscence about the atmosphere at Henson Park where we briefly had our home games for a few years in the late 80s, I think. There was a famous game against Manly there in about '87, when we beat them to break a 15 or so match winning streak that was threatening our own consecutive wins record of 18 or so from 1975. Team had Hugh mcGahan, Dave Smith, Craig Salvatori in it from my own demented and flawed memory. Of course that year, 2000, we bloody made it into the GF and lost by 8 points to broncos. At the time I thought the score flattered us and were it not for Luke Phillips' astoundingly heroic performance at fullback we could have gone down by a cricket score. I have since seen replays of that GF and it was a closer affair than that. Fitzy scored a try on the sideline with 10 to go,and his conversion attempt to put us within 6 actually bounced off the crossbar. Disappointing, and mssively overachieving to get there (a little like last year), but also like the elation of the tigers' semi last year being almost as good as a GF win, the comeback from 15-2 down against Joey's Knights in the qualifying final almost made up for it!

Wizened and farked up is about right.

Henson Park thread....where does one start??? Its complicated. I believe it began as a suggestion that the roosters should return to Henson Park as their home ground.. Started if I remember correctly by a highly provacative poster by the name of George Steele who has long since disappeared, unless he's still around posting under another name. It veered off into all sorts of hilarious directions which I can't really recall. But it was epic. Complete nutters like Socrates established their reps on that thread.

Some of those people are still around. Player1 and Trewhella were part of it, I'm pretty sure. Probably a few others, like Rooster Cogburn.

I was lucky enough back then to have a job where I didn't really have to do anything, just sit there reading the wall all day. Funny times.

Edit - I see Player 1 has chipped in with some remisniscing too while I was writing my post.....

How can this be possible when yours truly was banned for expressing very similar sentiments regarding the owner of Souths and a star players mum? Souths ffs!!
Shall i assume that admin and moderators play favourites with certain members or that they are just pathetic hypocrits beyond belief?
Well I missed that! You mean Maximus has been sticking the sword into a forbidden scabbard?

I have been called a hypocrite by you Adolf, but I bear no grudge, you are one of the best value posters on here without doubt.

Oh, and Ox, "George Steele", yes. YES. What a friggin amazing memory you have. Yes he was one of the Wall elders at the time, authoritative and not to be messed with!

Let me think about some other long forgotten wallsters.....what about "The Insider"?

Tobin had an alter ego I believe for a time, "Willie Wonka", or am I mistaken?

Amuse me, bring up some other vintage wall characters...

Yeah I think we were all slightly in awe of George Steele. Not to me be messed with, for sure. It was from him I got the inspiration to use the name of a pro wrestler from the seventies!

The Insider I kinda remember. A Souths fan no? I have a vague recollection of him having a complete meltdown over something or other. A strange guy.

Other characters...well, the trolls from other clubs that use to inflame Socrates to the point of firing his up IP tracker, they stand out in the memory, the likes of Da Man and Krusty the Clown.

There were some funny guys. A lot of long suffering rooster fans venting many years of frustration. My memory is struggling a bit from too much wine last night. I'll try to remember some more when the head clears.....
