  • Todd Carney to Hooker?

After watching Todd Carney speak on Fox tonight about wanting to finish off in the NRL, and saying he would agree to a no alcohol clause in his contract I reckon he would be an awesome Hooker, with the ability to play half, 5/8. or fullback in an emergency, even if he ended up a bench utility, it could prolong his career for another 3 years. When he came to us in 2010 I backed him to win the Dally M at 34 to 1......only $50 bet but a sweet win. The guy is a footballer through and through, and off the piss he is a game breaker. Love to see him in the RW &B.

Robbo already said there is no way Carney would ever be a Rooster again.

        Did he??
Robbo might change his mind on things like this.
        I like the idea.
Only possible downside could be the workrate in defence, but his dummyhalf work would be a big step up from what we got now.

I'd also like to see Manu have a go at fullback if Teddy joins the circus.

said he had his chance at the Roosters, and Todd is on a different path now.

Of course I can understand why he might say that, I have probably thought the same in the past, but the guy just came across as very sincere, and compare him to Cook who is probably going to be the Origin hooker... I would rate Carney's skill set much higher. Thinking of someone like Toovey who finished as a hooker. I think Todd is smart enough to know never to say never.

No way Carney should or would play for the Chooks again- that bridge has been burnt a long time ago- Carney should realise his NRL career is finished.

Words are open to interpretation, but that's not the way I heard Robbo's comments. He implied Todd wasn't in the Roosters' system (Norths are not a feeder club for us) so the only way that he could play for us this year is if we signed him which we have no intention of doing.

He made some non-committal statements about wishing Todd good luck.

i didn't hear him say that Todd would never be a Rooster again.

                          Why should he realise that?

I think Aubo could be an option at hooker in rotation with Friend.

I think in hindsight Carney was made a scapegoat by Brian Smith. In fact, I recall an interview in which Nick said he regretted what happened.
