It's typical. You could name a damn good team made from Roosters discards.

Toops - Mason - Toops - Mason. Hmmmm, think the Roosters got that one wrong. IDIOTS!

Lopini has been sh!t this year and FPN only plays well when he starts the game as Mack has already and correctly pointed out. Mickey, with some good coaching and confidence, is going great guns at the stains. Some larks have suggested Lopini needs to grow his hair back. I don't know what's wrong with this mob but I do know that all parties need to be held accountable - management, coaches and players.

        Round 4 (Eels) - 13 runs, 102 metres, 1 offload
        Round 5 (Broncos) - 8 runs, 88 metres, 2 offloads 1 LB/try assist
        Round 6 (Warriors) - 12 runs, 92 metres, 2 offloads
        Round 7 (Dragons) - 19 runs, 85 metres, 7 offloads
        Round 8 (Sharks) - 15 runs, 132 metres, 3 offloads, 1 linebreak
        Round 9 (Storm) - 11 runs, 72 metres, 3 offloads

So in 6 matches starting in the front row for us, he has averaged 13 runs for 95 metres, with 18 offloads, 8 tackle breaks, a linebreak and a LB/try assist, as well as 20 tackles average, and 1 missed. Compare this to his statistics as an interchange forward, which is 6 games, averaging 6 runs for 47 metres, with 2 offloads, 4 tackle breaks, no linebreaks, no LB/try assists, 14 tackles average and 2 missed.

Surely Freddy and the coaching staff must see the HUGE different between the two. FPN has been statistically our most outstanding starting prop-forward this season, yet on the back of his 6 best performances of his career, he gets demoted to the bench where he has been playing relatively poorly?

Hey mack can you give us the same stats for Lopini what he starts.

I think they are both starting props and should be used that way, for some reason whoever starts from the bench doesn't seem to make the same impact that the starting players do.

Shack should come off the bench and play up front also for mine - smart bloke said to me the other day that since Shack has been running a little wider he has struggled to make the same impact.

If Shackleton has gone to free up cap-space for Craig Wing, then I will not be complaining at all...

If that's the reason then I can live with that.

              For
              In 2007:

Paea played 7 games at starting prop, 1 try, 2 linebreaks, 1 linebreak assist, 8 offloads, 22 tackle breaks, averaged 13 runs for 114 metres.

He also played 15 games off the bench, 2 tries, 2 linebreaks, 0 linebreak assists, 11 offloads, 22 tackle breaks, averaged 8 runs for 77 metres.

              In 2008:

Paea played 10 games as starting prop or backrow, 0 tries, 0 linebreaks, 0 offloads, 22 tackle breaks, averaged 10 runs for 88 metres.

He also played 16 games off the bench, 0 tries, 3 linebreaks, 1 linebreak/try assist, 6 offloads, 38 tackle breaks, averaged 9 runs for 93 metres.

              This season:

Paea has started 4 games as starting prop or backrow, 0 tries, 1 linebreak, 0 linebreak assists, 1 offload, 9 tackle breaks, averaged 9 runs for 67 metres.

He also played 8 games off the bench, 0 tries, 0 linebreaks, 0 linebreak assists, 3 offloads, 11 tackle breaks, averaged 10 runs for 76 metres.

              -----------

So, apart from 2007, Paea has arguably been somewhat more effective off the bench as an impact forward. Paea and Nuuausala should NEVER be on the field at the same time unless we want fast hookers running rings around us. Start with Nuuausala to grind it out, Rauhihi style, with big runs and offloads at the line, then bring Paea on for short, sharp bursts as a hitup merchant.

For mine the issue here is that yet again we have sold a great clubman, a man who loved the Roosters and played his heart out for us. And what for? So we can look for the quick fix by buying overated so called stars who wont put in as they are only here for the cash.

Great teams are just that.....teams! And these teams are built on having the "right" players not necessarily the best players. Shack in my mind was the "right" type of player.

We didn't "sell" anyone Shack got a very good offer from parra and he took it. No doubt Shack has played a few good games this season but IMO he isn't worth the money he would be getting at parra. If we went and matched every offer from other clubs to our off contract players we would end up with a squad of 12.

In regards to us buying the overrated stars and looking for a quick fix I don't know what your talking about. In the off season we bought no one of note but we have retained our best young players to long term deals. I honestly think we are starting to head in the right direction we just have to put up with some short term pain.

Fitzy, we couldn't buy anyone of note last year because we paid way over the year before for Mason and O'Meley. Mason would be on a back ended contract because he was a "impulse buy" they hadn't acounted for so he would be paid far more in 09 and 10 than he was in 08.

That impulse buy has cost us plenty in terms of player losses - and I reckon we've lost more quality than we gained.

Yes, we've re-signed some of the younguns, but we also let some gooduns go.

The joke is when we needed to buy a quality centre, we've paid big bucks for some untried Manly import forward, who may or may not be worth the money.

Remember the "next best thing" Karl Filiga that Cronulla bought from the Dogs on an inflated contract. Last thing I heard he was looking to play park footy after taking the money and running from the Sharks, without giving anything in return.

That is still a bloody good pack, even without Shackleton and Fitzgibbon. Mostly homegrown, all very strong, skillful, and a good balance.
That would be the worst pack in the NRL by a long way.

Shane Shackleton is the sort of player that always featured in Jack Gibson's teams.
