  • What about Manu’s tackle?!!

It wasn’t long ago commentators were singing Radley’s praises and are still singing Mitchell’s great form only to now turn to Manu being described as something really special! And he is just awesome in both attack and defense.

Just where are we finding all these would be superstars and its just so exciting seeing them all do so well that even when we lose players like Mitchell and Napa we still go on to increase our lead. Have we got depth or what?

Our handling and completion was perfect this week and errors and penalties disappeared. It helps now that refs are being told not to nit pick. That could really set our season on fire as we thrive with plenty of possession. Keary played well and I wonder what Freddy ever saw in Cleary and Maloney because they both were dominated completely by our halves. What a performance by our team totally unexpected but that’s the real roosters. GO ROOSTERS!

He got penalised for the crusher tackle in the first which was as accidental as Clearys imo and that kind of stuff is also not in his game.
With that tackle it was like Radley thaught him how to spin a player sideways as he’s tackling. Maybe Manu thinking that if a young player like Victor can do it, then he can do it to. Radley I feel is inspiring not only the younger players to play hard but also the bigger ones too. Win win with him.

We just keep on pulling off those tackles. Amazing.

        Agree.
From the replay, the Penrith winger only had to dive low over the line. But his body was slightly high and Manu was super fast to get him. How fast is Manu when he's chasing, awesome. Reminds me of the unbelievable chase and tackle on French at Parra a season or two ago.

His best performance this year, by far! What impressed me most was his awareness on that play. All credit to him. You could see his confidence growing throughout the match, the belief he now has that he can make a positive contribution for his team mates and the relief that he finally might belong in first grade. Well done young fella, keep it up! Great to see a smile on his face.

Has he lost speed? When he took the intercept I thought he'd be away, but he seem to know he wasn't going to make it and looked for support. Maybe he's bulked up to improve his defence?

I’m watching the replay now (missed the game live) that didn’t look like a crusher tackle to me I thought Manu was rough to be penalised

i dont think so, manu quite easily gets away from the winger chasing, it just might mean DWZ is a bit faster than him and made it look worse when manu ran infield a bit in front of him making it a bit easier to chase down. when ever manu sprints never looks like hes moving very fast when he is, quite weird. also his second try saving tackle this year from chasing back cant remember the other one but it was a break and they got past teddy and ended up stopping them. hes definitely iproving and would love to have him round for years

How we keep doing these tackles is amazing.

What I've liked about Manu's defence is the work he is putting in off the field. It's been pointed out (quite rightly) is that he is a bit of an arm grabber . I loved reading how in the off season he did extras after each session working on his defence, which shows he is willing to work on his deficiencies and improve himself. The effort he has shown in scrambling along with the rest of the team when our line has been broken speaks volumes for the attitude we have in defence. He isn't ever going to be a great defensive centre but as long as he continues to try hard I'm sure he can be a good footballer for us.

What about Manu’s flick pass to Fergo to set up the try? Wasn’t it clever as well as pure talent? He’s really awesome and will only get better!

By far his best game in FG. Well done.

I think last night was his coming out party. Being in a winning side breeds confidence and maturity. Because you know you can trust the players around you.

Billy Smith is something special. His challenge will keep Manu honest to hold his spot. Good position to be in.
