  • Carney to quit the Roosters in the next 48 hours?

They just stated this on the ABC wrap up. It was stated as only a rumour, but the rumour was that Carney would quit the Roosters in the next 48 hours to go to Europe to play.

(No inside word here, just relaying what I heard on radio!)

out of sight out of mind, even more money to spend for 2013 with the increase in salary cap.

After the trouble in England in the past few weeks, his ability to get a visa to play away games could be a problem. Who'd pay top dollar for him to play every second week? It'll be a shame that it has come to this, but he is a very immature young man and I wish him the best...so long as he doesn't play against us!

They mentioned the same on the radio. Do you need a Visa to travel within the European Union? I worked in the UK/Europe for a couple of years in 2000-2001 and drove freely across borders (including the France-England train) without getting stopped.

That'll save them having to sack him.

I was all confused, but see how it all works now, you have to be on the 'protected species list' then the media covers for you as does the club.
Silly me, how could I have been so misguided.

I think a work visa may be a different issue in his case. He may not get one in the first place.

Like I said, the guy on ABC radio qualified it as a rumour as well. It won't take long to find out if its true or not.

48hrs is too long for me.

I just wish the club would all let us know their decision and move on with it whatever it is, it's starting to get annoying and giving the club unwanted press.

My guess is that an overseas contract has been/is being organised for him so that the board doesn't look the like the bad guys and it looks like Todd left of his own accord.

The French link is Trent Robinson, coach of the Catalan Dragons, and someone Todd got along well with.

Playing in France should be ok as Sa is there, and Greg Bird had a small stint during the glassing-affair.
Crossing the Channel to the UK every second week will be the issue.

                          The plot thickens.

But if he's playing for Catalans, Carney's employed in France?
