Jake Friend or Craig Wing?
Simple answer really.
You're pretty spot on most times, but this one......
Friend for sure. Stick with youth. You watch Pearce, Friend and Ferrett in the next 2-3 years. They'll be our cornerstone from which we'll rise from this darkness.

Friend will not be a above average FG player. Wing brings an X factor to teams.

Last year you would have had little clue who winterstein was and you also spent most of last season calling toops useless.Last edited by Rooster Cogburn; 06-11-2009, 08:07 AM.

I'd say The Broncos are a thousand times smarter than the Roosters, wouln't you?
Brisbane signed him because he was off contract and needed back up players. The cards have fallen into place for him and he is playing good football. With the way our team is playing, do you really think we would get the same performace from winterstein as brisbane are getting???
Being close to family would have sweetened the deal for him to go to Brisbane.
When he played in our under 20 side, he was not performing well, at the start of this season, thie wing spot was contested between wintersten and Yao Yhe, if Yao Yeh had of played better in the first couple of games, the story could have been differet.
it is not as easy as saying, "he is an ex rooster, he is killing it somewhere else, we should have kept him"
In reality, as i said earlier, the way we are going at the moment, would winterstein have made a difference and secondly would he be playing this good if he was in our side at the moment??
the Answer to both is NO. and in reality, if wif we were winning, you would not even be considering Winterstein to return.

Maybe but to some extent a winger is only as good as the men inside him - Wallace, Lockyer, Folau, Hodges as well as Hunt at 1.
Pretty hard to compare. Just about any winger would be starring as part of that backline (Todd Byrne notwithstanding)

Whilst it's nice to show faith in Friend, we need to ask ourselves whether he will be the answer to our dummy half woes. The player wearing the no.9 these days must be dynamic as well as a good footballer. Friend has the football skills but does he have the speed?
He is still young which is in his favour, but can he find a few extra yards of pace?Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Sometimes players leave beacuse they want to. Occassionaly it is their choice and not the clubs to go to another team. There have been examples where there is no mention of a players potential until he has moved to another club and IF he performs there is a cry that we should not have let him go.
It would be interesting to list the amount of players that played with the Roosters in the last 5 years, that have now gone to other clubs and how they are performing. I am not just talking about entrenched first graders, but all the juniors as well.
I had never heard of Winterstien till this year either.
