  • Referees' favourites

It was interesting to here Smith talk about Cronulla's "awkward" tactics that "test the referees". He said they march forward 4 metres in many tackles and lean on the defenders - presumably to get penalties. I noticed too that they dive at the feet of defenders and no dominant tackle seems to apply.

Penalties win games and some teams are consistently favoured by the referees. In the last 4 years these teams have had a huge advantage in the penalty stakes:

    Cronulla - PLUS 117 penalties
    Parramatta - PLUS 101 penalties
    Souths - PLUS 76 penalties

One team has a huge disadvantage:

    Roosters - MINUS 150 penalties

I realise there are people here that think we deserve such a thrashing in the penalty counts every single bloody year. Do they also believe these other teams deserve such assistance from the refs? That their discipline is so consistently superior?

Yeah dunno. Its a strange one.

Its ridiculous to think there would be a deliberate bias against particular sides. I just don't buy that paranoia kinda stuff. But its also hard to fathom that our discipline could be that bad. I just dunno.

Then again, we gave a couple of completely stupid penalties for strips against the sharks. Unbelievable to do that and think you could get away with it. So no doubt some of it is self inflicted.

Our play its not smart at all. For instance how often do our forward run decoys in attack and if they do, how effective are they? IMO, I can't recall any of our forwards running decoys in attack and being as effective as the Tigers. They-Tigers- are constantly running at the defense trying to confuse them. Our best is when Ryles gets in the way of a runner and nearly costing us a try last weekend. DUMB!

          Obviously that is the case.

Considering those figures were over the past four years, at least two of those we have been far from the worst.

It's a little like speeding drivers who complain when they get booked. The solution is really simple, don't speed.

                  We're persecuted...plain and simple.

Is there a place where the above penalties are published?

                    http://blogs.news.com.au/dailytelegr..._out_of_focus/

                    Refs are out of focus

I’VE been saying all season that referees and not necessarily the players or coaches will determine who wins this year’s premiership.

I’m even more convinced after watching five of the seven games over the weekend.

                    Me too!

Thanx for this article 'Mr rosy cheeks', nice to see someone with the same opinion as mine.

Of course, it's the same deal as in the 2010 GF.

Darque you used to have plenty of credibility on these forums.

Now that Souffs are winning a few games (although still out of the top 8) you are carrying on like a tool.

christian darque, I find it amusing (and a little sad for you) that you are here just when your team is doing well, yet you were nowhere to be seen nor smelt when they were not doing well. To me, that speaks volumes about the type of "man" you are and the speaking isn't flattering. So may I politely suggest that you save yourself further embarrassment and leave these parts as you add no value whatsoever.
