One thing I don't understand is why the Roosters have so many backrowers on their books and then sign another in Bosden.
In the clubs defence, when he was signed, Guerra, Cordner and Taka either weren't playing as well as they are now or were largely unproven in FG AND our U20 boys weren't on fire as they are know. Also, we had just lost Conn and Myles who are more grafting players who can play in tight and switch between prop and lock (as is Bosden). Given this style of play, I think he will still play a role for us next year. A lot of our other forwards are more impact players or wide runners.

The backrower who has really impressed me over the last month has been Taka. He has bought a lot of skill to our backrow. I really hope he does well next year. With him, Maubs and Guerra, we have a lot of good attacking backrowers. I can't see Symonds getting a look in next year.

Wayne Pearce was one of the few non Souths players I was ever a real fan of. Never met his son so I can't say if I dislike him or not. I happen to be of the opinion he is a very average NRL half and way over hyped due to who his Daddy is.

Gday KIWI, I agree with you and my chinese mate. Carney must stay IMO!!

He goes pretty good considering his age and the responsiblity and pressure he's been under, not many 22 yo halves playing rep these days! Good luck to your team, hope they rippin and upset some teams at least...

He certainly was woeful on the wing early last year. The role of the winger has changed a bit since the days when Mini first had success on the flank. The one thing he continues to offer at fullback is excellent positional play and good direction at the back for the team. I don't even mind him getting involved a bit in the halves and at dummy-half, so long as he doesn't overplay his hand. He seemed to think was Andrew Johns at times this season, but he has been finding a better balance with this in recent weeks.

Thanks, beguurk. I haven't been here long but have already got a laugh from your posts. Every forum needs its jester, but reading between the farce you actually do seem to know your footy.

Next year will be the last years of Minichiello, Ryles and Anasta at the Roosters I imagine.

If Carney stays, I would go with one of two options:

                      Option 1 - 6. Anasta ... 11. Guerra ... 14. Carney

This would involve dropping Mitchell, with Anasta shifting into the backrow when Carney comes on.

                      Option 2 - 6. Carney ... 11. Anasta ... 14. Guerra

This would mean Anasta plays 80 minutes in the backrow, and we can either drop Guerra, or drop Mitchell and have Friend playing the 80 too.

Rest of the team, as posted in the other thread, should be as follows:

                      1. Minichiello
                      2. Perrett
                      3. Kenny-Dowall
                      4. Carney
                      5. Leilua
                      6.
                      7. Pearce
                      8. Ryles
                      9. Friend
                      10. Kennedy
                      11.
                      12. Aubusson
                      13. Cordner

                      14.
                      15. Nuuausala
                      16. Hargreaves
                      17. Masoe

                      18. Tasi (prop)
                      19. Tagive (wing)
                      20. Symonds (backrow)
                      21. Mitchell (hooker)

New signings like Ailomai, Bosden, Henry, and even current fringe players Takairangi, Arona, Mataka or Naughton (if any of them decide to stay) would be hovering around the squad too.

I just feel that in the current team, Mitchell is the weakest link. Not bad at all as an option, but with Carney there and our pack fully fit, with his limited contributions he is somewhat expendable. If Carney does leave, I wouldn't mind Braith in at five-eighth, Guerra in the second row, and either Mitchell (to provide some variation at dummy half) or Tasi (to bulk up the pack) coming onto the bench.

                        5. Tagive
                        6. Carney
                        7. Pearce
                        8. Ryles
                        9. Friend
                        10. Kennedy
                        11. Taka
                        12. Maubs
                        13. Cordner

                        14. Mitchell
                        15. JWH
                        16. Masoe
                        17. Nuuausala

                        Before I am lynched,

                        - Anasta at centre as he is good under the high ball in attack as well as he seems to favour short side raids. Tagive outside him would give us a strong defence as well as his obvious speed.

                        - Taka/Guerra depending on form

                        - Mini is too safe at the back for us to play him out of position

I would also look at perhaps having Ryles or Kennedy off the bench with JWH or Masoe starting. This would mean that both Ryles and Kennedy didnt have to be off at the same time
