The Roosters played the Cowboys in a trial before the 2017 season. Keary and Nikorima were the halves with O'Sullivan also taken up for a run. Nikorima was ambling into dummy half and playing pretty sluggish. Looked disinterested. O'Sullivan came on. He immediately took over the kicking duties and got busy around the rucks. O'Sullivan's kicks were nicely placed. He fitted seamlessly in with the team and played like an old-stager.

Really pleasing him to make a successful debut. After the match he also paid tribute to Cronk for helping him with his game and helping getting ready to debut. It was a nice touch.

The other two young players that shone in the early trials of 2017 were Sitili - he just kept going throughout - and Collins. Good to see them all coming through now. Players we have blooded since 2016 are Mitchell, Matterson, Radley, Butcher, Collins and now O'Sullivan and Momirovski along with the Farmer. Not forgetting the ones that flew the coup like Watson. I think it's a credit to the coaching staff that we have been able to ready these guys for NRL standard, let alone some standout performances.

From 2013 grand final only Tupou, Aubusson, JWH, Cordner and Friend remain. Napa didn't make the bench for that one and Liu was still working through the system, SST came in 2014 to Newtown from memory. All of them have gone onto representative honours.

Being a half and with the ability to kick and kick well, maybe Sully could be the utility from the bench next year
and Jake’s replacement during his rest periods. Of course as long as he could handle the defence if he was to replace Jake. This utility role off the bench next season would be a good initiation for him if the intention is for him to be our half in 2020.

Yeah good point. With Radley moving into Lock, there will be that utility spot. Has Sully played any hooker? Might tie in with Baptiste being linked with a move back to the Raiders next year.

Matt Lodge is his brother in law so I’m not surprised the Broncos are keen..

In saying that I highly doubt our Club won’t lock him up long term.

With so much Chookpen hype around the Silly Farmer (I'm looking at you Eddie :P) I was quite excited to see if the hype was real. I had read on here that he would charge his hit ups with no hand break and that was exactly what he did. Got a try on debut as a gift for his hard running too. If we had him instead of Sitili last week we would of had abit more go forward as I felt Sitili was man handled and wasnt ready yet. Robbo's inclusion of him showed that he agreed.
I should come out of exile to celebrate the good farmers debut.
Any prop that scores a try in their first game should win the "Jason Lowrie" award.

I thought all year that Farmer Silly could offer some enthusiasm off the bench used in small doses. He'd offer more value than the bloke who served up the forward pass for his try anyrate.

Very happy for all three of our first gamers on the weekend.
