  • can't stand the ref inconsistency

Radley got binned and suspended for a late hit after a player released the ball, just now Guerra did exactly the same thing and it was only a penalty, according to the directive issued by the NRL players are meant to be sin binned for that offense.

another example of the mind boggling inconsistency of the NRL.

Broncos gave away 5 penalties in 3 minutes just before half time last night and didn't even get a warning.

It's hard to find consistency in the sin binnings.

Todd Greenberg made it pretty clear about a month ago, any player who hits a defenceless player after he released the ball would be sin binned, its a simple black and white rule they can't even enforce.

        Yep.

And what about the arrogance of the refs when dealing with Ryan James? You would never see them treat Cam Smith like that.

That wasn’t the broncos giving away penalties R6. That was the game managers evening up the penalty count

One of the ways to stop inconsistency in binning for repeated infringements is get rid of the option. Bin people for professional fouls, yes, for punching, if you want, for some forms of dangerous play, maybe, but binning for repeated infringements is open to abuse. And it's not as if the offending team gets off scot free. Being penalised (except maybe in the last 40 seconds of a half) is no huge advantage - you're just giving away another set of six.

Sutton is the worst, he turns to water if a player even remotely raises his voice.

Those penaltys Klein gave the panthers were all on the first and second tackle and more a hindrance than a help with the clock running down. They were purely to even up the count and exactly the same as we copped against the warriors earlier in the year .

Here's an interview with Bernard Sutton from earlier this morning. In short he is an absolute joke. Instead of owning the mistake and even admitting an error by the bunker, he continually threw the touch judge under the bus. He's so delusional to even deny that there have been issues with refereeing under his watch. We need change

If the players were allowed to quick tap inside the 10, penalties would go away.

why can’t you quick tap inside the 10

I’d go one step further. Penalty inside the 10 is either an automatic 2 points to the attacking side or if the attacking side scores off the next set, the try is an automatic 5 or six point try plus the kick at goal.

Like anything- if the penalties are harsher, the crime will stop.

great example of inconsistemcy tonight in the Tigers game. Farah gets penalised for a shepherd. then 10 mins later Souths do exactly the same thing and no penalty

Souffs will get the rub of the green (and a bit of red) between now and Sept. it’s a gimme. Opposition teams need to be good enough to take the refs out of the game like the Tigers were today.

Too many refs.. they only need one.

The main ref has 3-4 other people looking over his shoulder that he starts to second guess himself. It’s shithouse.

Consider this, you’re a ref, you start reffing juniors, then seniors, then 20’s, then reserve grade. All that time being the sole voice on the field. Then you make 1st grade and they give you 4 others to “help” you get the right call. It undermines all your prior training.

It’s a fkn joke, the systems broke
                            ..it’ll be interesting to see

That's a good point, the refs lose their confidence and would rather the bunker make the decision for them.
They referee the game a certain way for 90 metres and then when a team gets within 10 metres of the tryline they change the amount of time the defenders can spend in a tackle and suddenly you have to release them immediately otherwise you cop 3 quick penaltys and threatened with a sin binning.
