Finch may not be the best analyst/commentator going around but as long as he isn’t sh*tting himself on live TV or making my ears bleed then 99% of the time I’m happy to hear him (and anyone else for that matter) speak and crack jokes.

After all, shows like the Marty Johns Show are comedic relief for the lowest common denominator. Yeah, I roll my eyes when they make the same sombrero joke for the 100th time but at least they’re not taking the piss out of us for coming last, our players taking peptides or not having any teeth.

And for what it’s worth, I love Finchy.

Fittingly his last game was the "retro round" Brookvale abortion when he and Roach decided to have a fireside chat about the old days instead of calling the game.

By sheer co-incidence the last game for the doyen of unbearable callers, Tim Gilbert, was a City Country game in Albury where he did precisely the same thing.

If history holds correct we will not have to deal with Nable again.

i was a massive critic of Finch. I could see he was off his face most of the time. A buck tooth kid that struggled to adapt to the glorious distractions of the Eastern suburbs. Jesus I was after him for years


this must of hurt his NRL friends who would have enabled him because he is a likeable bloke.

Brett’s attitude, his booze and drug addictions cost the roosters premierships.
