I wonder what’s going on there? He’s involved in the Players’ Union - I wonder if that’s a black mark.
While he is a cheeky bugger I suspect he is also quite mature when it comes to looking after his family (he seems like a genuinely good bloke who would put the safety + security of his kids and wife ahead of everything).
Decent power couple I reckon and he is right to shop around. I mean what were we paying him... $350k and he won us a premiership? Sharks paid him $600k and he got them a premiership. On 700-800k he has single handedly made the Riff look like a decent club (they talk about junior development then go around sacking everybody for no reason). Jimmy could get $1M+ somewhere and IMO he should take it.
He is 32 and if he under-performs he can retire with no regrets. Otherwise (more likely as he is still young), he can keep playing, knowing that every year he plays on his family will get an extra $1M+. These days most players can play until ~37 because they look after themselves better. It used to be that players smoked and drank heavily every night so they aged artificially quicker. Now they eat proper diets, few can keep up if they smoke (particularly with recovery) and drinking is comparatively limited. At 35 I remember feeling fitter and stronger than ever... heaps of friends playing sport did too.Last edited by ism22; 08-24-2018, 08:32 AM.

Rumoured to be a serial pest at training. Gets under the skin of coaches, that’s probably why they’re not fussed to see the back of him after a couple of seasons.
Also there are rumours of issues between him and Nathan Cleary which may be the main reason Penrith are shopping him. Seems like whatever the Cleary kid wants he gets.

At 32 he’s unlikely to land a better deal than what he’s on now. More likeky someone will pick him up at a discount and Penrith will need to make up the difference.

Knights should sign him. Reuniting him with Pearce would be great for them. With Pongia at fullback that’s a decent spine.
