I've been told from a junior ref that it is well known most of the senior refs hate the roosters, he couldn't tell me why. i also suspect that Melbourne and Brisbane get help to keep regional crowds interested.

Nothing self righteous, conspiracy theory-based or frenzied about it.

Just the facts. And they are way, way out there beyond anything explicable by random variation.

      Why? I don't know, I certainly can't explain it.

But is it up to me or Tommy Smith to provide an explanation?

Anybody who is not appalled by what is presented in this table, have a look at it again.

They don’t hate the roosters, they just haven’t yet been able to prove that we are constantly way over the cap, it is the only way they can try to keep the comp fair by handicapping us in penalties. There is no other reason for it.

What do you guys want to happen though? Robbo made the point a couple of years ago that historically we’ve had a rough time with penalties. I believe we’ve had a much better time of it since then.

So what more do you want to happen? It would be nice to win the count 10-2 every week but I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

It’s true. A guy who sits near me knows Ben Cummins wife. He once asked her why he always gives us a hard time. She responded ‘that he hates the Roosters’ with a straight face.

Any idea what the hate has come from?

manly were hated in the day because arko and Fulton, and the success that came with it, they ran the game.

Our hate from the average fan, is because they don’t understand how we attract high quality players and still be under the cap, teams like Melbourne with there salary cap cheating, wrestling tactics rarely get a mention of most hated teams, people just accept them as a successful dominant team without a second thought.

How can Brisbane have such a great record under Sutton ? I thinks its 17 - 0 now. On Saturday its not the penalties against us its the penalties we didn't receive for the same offences..... How many times players were being held down by the Bronco's and no penalty. No consistency...

I forgot about those 2 games. They do seem a rarity but considering how successful we have been over many years, one would think it should be the norm rather than a rarity.

Any idea of any similar counts in our favour in previous years?

We are from the best area in one of the most beautiful cities in the world with a team that has a lot of money behind it. Refs growing up are fans of the game and unless they are from the eastern suburbs they will hate us along with most other supporters. It didn't surprise me to see us and the dogs on that most penalised list by refs that Tommy Smith put up.
Unjustified criticism is a disguised compliment motivated by jealousy and envy.

Stoopid League didn't help. Many Faiders people say we were trying to entice Daley, Clyde and Stuart here which caused the breakaway. I don't believe that reasoning but that is where it starts IMO. We were the transit lounge before Gus and Freddy arrived.

The between 2000-2004 there were many questions being asked about The Wankos. Answers were dodged. Then all of a sudden we were over the cap. The Boggs were busted but we became Poachers.

Since then its become folklaw. Literally a cliché that is the lazy persons way to excuse their own clubs shortcomings.

Then there is the good old property boom of the 90s. The Eastern Suburbs became a rich mans place to live.

Everyone is envious of money when they don't have it. And the rich like that contempt thingy. It keeps the poor in their place.

                              Perception and clichés.

I personally love it. Better to be envied than felt sorry for.

                              You know it makes sense.
