As soon as we signed Angus the writing was on the wall for Matto.

It makes sense given we've signed Angus.

Hopefully it adds weight to the idea that we're looking to free up some space for another prop.

      Napa and Matto out
      Taupau in

Remains my dream. I'd rather TPJ but that seems fanciful.

Angus for Matterson is a good swap.
Matterson will only become a roadblock for our young forwards coming through.

Easy to see why Souths would be looking at Matterson. He's the perfect follow on from Sutton as a former five eighth merged into bigger second rower who will develop as a ball player. I think Crighton is more dynamic and can do both. But Matto was the perfect bench player and although he could do with a bit more fire, does a heap of clean up work and can go the full 80. Could be that his concussion has put a change in plans too. I always thought that was also Nikorima's weakness, the head knocks. Matterson should have been rested BEFORE he copped that falcon attack. He has taken a few knocks and was off his game already.
