If Latrell gets suspended for that ”crusher tackle” then Aubbo will probably play centre in the prelim final. Not the most ideal scenario but the safest one. Surely you guys can see his worth. He’s reliable, versatile and tough as nails.
Hopefully, we don’t lose Latrell but who knows what the match review committee will come back with. I don’t think the tackle warrants a suspension but considering Dugan did such a good job at milking the penalty, who knows?

I get the feeling that if he was going to retire, he would of announced it by now.
The fans want him to hang around.

Aubo should've been on the bench in Origin at this peak. He can cover any position on the field. He is not setting the world on fire at the moment, but defences are so in your face these days. He still toughs it out and makes yardage when tackled, though. I'd give him another year.

Maubs offers plenty, I thought he was really good last night.

Yeh I agree with others, Maubs was good last night. His defence was rock solid, came in for some handy carries & knew ran his role in the backline movements.

The only fault in his performance was on one occasion where he ran into the wrong hole and we missed an opportunity. Other than that I thought he was good.

Maubs signed what was called at the time a lifetime contract at the time back in 2016 to take him through to the end of 2019, when he will be 32. He has never played for another club and had over 260 games for the Roosters. I don't think he will ever play against us and I hope that is the case.
He has performed exceptionally for us over the years and will probably retire at the end of next year. He is on about $280,000 per year and knocked back a $350,000 per year offer from St George in 2014 to stay with us. He has always represented the club proudly and I am sure the club will show him the loyalty he deserves.
Some on here seem to think we should fill the team with young guys who might be bigger and stronger and faster than players like Maubs, but there is a place for versatility, dependability, experience and maturity in every team. I love us having long term players like Maubs in our team.

Id just like to see him pass more than hold when his centre has some room...dies with it too often.

I think when he does get the ball the offensive line is pretty shallow on the right side. So there is no really opportunity for him to engage manu on his outside.

                      Matto goes, smith, etc.

Don't think this is an issue with Matto going. Aubo has played the full 80 minutes for the last 2 games - and played well, can fill in every position on the field at a pinch, is very solid in defence and rarely gets pushed back with ball in hand, and still has a good step.

Sure, it's possible that a younger bloke could come up and push him out of the top 17, but I'm more than happy for him to stay next year with an option for a year or two more.

A lot of the time he would just be under instruction from Cronk to work to a certain point on the field.

Easy to say he should just pass it out wider but if he's setting up for the next play the he's doing the right thing.

I wasnt being that simplistic. Im talking more about the times when it is a backline running or broken field play when he has the option to draw and pass before the line, or hit first and pass after. Often times he takes the hit hoping for a tackle bust or pass after contact.
