Grain of salt people. He's there to commentate on the game not on who's his favourite or least favourite club. If you listen closely, you'll find that he also gives it to all other clubs when they're not performing well. With the panthers he usually opts out from making any comments but if needed he will which is understandable since his the boss. As for tonight, I didn't find anything wrong with what he said especially when we were under the pump in that second half. Do you want him and all others to be showering our team with praise when it's not deserved? He has to be objective no matter if it hurts your feelings.

When he was saying the Sharks were winning the game but not on the scoreboard I agreed. We were under a lot of pressure and were losing the battle for territory. But there could be an argument that our defense was brilliant in absorbing all of that pressure and everything they threw at us. Our defence frustrated the Sharks to the extent that they bombed 3 tries. That message wasn’t conveyed by Gus at all. If it were QLD or the Broncos or one of his pet teams he would have said so. Prior to the game Gus said the Sharks would win easy and were the only team from the four finals who were certainties to win. He needed to justify his claims by death riding everything the Roosters did. Otherwise he would look like a goose. It affects his commentary and it’s not only with Roosters games.

So how do you rate Rex The Moose Mossop in comparison to Rabbs?

At least Rex was funny and a decent bloke.

Dont forget Gus said Sharks were certainties so he was protecting his large ego by talking them up.

And, likely, he had a decent wager on them too, so talking through his kick as well as they say.

Not laughing here...Just getting all those points you made but I'll say this, Gus may say sharks or who ever to win before the match but so were many others too. This was a tough game to predict for many reasons. They are not always right. I thought that when the Roosters were playing well, he would praise them and when they were under the pump, he would praise the Sharks and point out the faults with the Roosters, like Cronk kicking 5 times in a row to V Holmes. It's part of their gig to keep talking crap for 80mins. These guys (all commentators) are not academics talking about a clear subject. These are ex footy players who can talk spin all night, but it doesn't mean they're correct. As for hating the club, well my perception of his ways is that he has to maintain some level of objectivity especially since having been part of this club. I am sure that there are some ex footy players that hate the Roosters and YES Tallis is one because I have personally heard him say it and it wasn't on TV, but Gus...? Nah he just has to talk crap about the game every day of the week. He praises us when we're good, he dumps it on us when we're bad. It's what they have to do.

Rex never pretended to be anything he wasn't and he knew the game.

Even in his twilight years where he did begin to lose it Mossop still offered good informative insights into a game. One of the best if not the best commentators the game has had

Gonna give the channel 9 commentarty team a chance tonight. I'm hoping that bcaz the roosters aren't playing that their comments wont frustrate me as much.

So far during the pre-game only Freddie has impressed me (no surprise by that - and I'm not just saying that because it's Freddie).
