  • Phil Gould Commentary Tonight

I rarely watch channel 9 because I usually watch the footy on Fox sports but after a year of listening to Blocker Roach mumbling through games I thought I would give channel 9 a go.

Listening to Gus Gould, I never realised how much he dislikes our club. He seems to talk us down at every chance and when we did something good he would simply put it down to opposition's poorness.

Since when has he been so against us, was there a big falling out?

His dislike for us was so obvious from the start to the conclusion of the coverage.

I don't want to be unfair to Gus, but I have to say he is a very fat old queer with a severe alcohol and gambling problem. He pretends to be friends with Uncle Nick, but that is only because Nick paid off his massive gambling debts as part of the deal to bring him to Easts in the 90s. The team he had back then was good enough to win a title, but his emotional instability and erratic nature must have rubbed off on the team.

He has never forgiven our success since his departure.

His biased, vindictive commentary ramblings are a disgrace but most of all an embarrassment to himself.

    He really should shoot himself.

Gus has been well known for having a biased towards our club particularly due to his affiliation with uncle Nick. Opposition fans have always slammed Gus for being biased towards the roosters and Gus is no doubt conscious of being an easy target every time he says something positive about our club. Deep down he still loves the chooks and I can understand why he tries to appear like he’s sitting on the other side of the fence. Channel 9 pay his wages so he needs to keep the fans happy that watch F2A

Rabs actually called it wide for reasons best known to himself. Wonder what they dropped on that result. Was priceless - music to my ears.

I switched to nine from Fox during an ad break post game. The first thing I heard was senile Rab’s saying ‘it was a game that included two controversial moments against the Sharks and two grapple tackles’. I suspect he had the sh##s big time that we won.

Gould's bias is toxic and it's been happening now for years. I'm surprised more haven't commented on it.

On Latrell's tackle on Dugan, Gould immediately compared it to Chambers saying that it was exactly the same motion and then immediately reinforcing that comment with 'exactly the same motion' yet again. There was little comparison compared to Chambers one on one with Hayne which was far more deliberate and dangerous.

Gould would have known the consequences of such a damning comment but it didn't faze him at all. I have little time for Gould. He is an intelligent analyst when he keeps the bias out but he cannot help himslef with the Roosters. More concerned with Cronulla's missed chances than the Roosters courage and pressure. He showed in the way he handled the replacement of Griffen that his ego is bigger than Jupiter.

Gould should retire from commentating. Once upon a time, he was alright. But now, he rambles on (sometimes off-topic), clearly has a bias attitude towards some clubs, and doesnt really generate much insightful and analytical comments, just straight up obvious ones. And so should Warren, but because he is senile
                      EASTS TO WIN!

I’ve noticed his bias for a long time now and have mentioned it on here many times before. Quite a few posters said I was imagining it and he just tries hard to try to not appear biased in favour of the Roosters. But I agree with you completely Louis. His giant ego reveals his anti Roosters agenda time and again. I truly think he is jealous of any coach who has had success at the Roosters since he left.

Has there been a more withering put down on the ‘Pen ever?

I must applause the delivery, if not the sentiment - necessarily.

Grain of salt people. He's there to commentate on the game not on who's his favourite or least favourite club. If you listen closely, you'll find that he also gives it to all other clubs when they're not performing well. With the panthers he usually opts out from making any comments but if needed he will which is understandable since his the boss. As for tonight, I didn't find anything wrong with what he said especially when we were under the pump in that second half. Do you want him and all others to be showering our team with praise when it's not deserved? He has to be objective no matter if it hurts your feelings.
