If Teddy missed a GF for that I'd be filthy.

And you would be too I suspect.

Agreed, Just keep in mind with all the character rewrites for Slater this is the same guy who led with the boots on the ground and in the air against opposing players and was the catalyst for rule changes on the grounds of his behaviour for leading with your feet on the ground.

he knew what he was doing and he knew it was illegal and it was a significant momentum shifting moment in the game

If he gets off, fine. I accept the NRL is corrupt, has been since that evil cadaver Murdoch sank his talons into it. But that was a shoulder charge. Slater has a dodgy shoulder and if he'd tried to tackle like he was supposed to, he'd end up like Gallen.

Those Queenslanders know how to stick together. Lockyer just argued the case for exoneration. Thank god freddie stepped in.

                Lockyer is a bias tool..

At the end of the day the rule is the rule, forget all the technicalities and sentiment behind Billy Slater’s last game..

You are not allowed to lead with intent with you shoulder,I would be shocked if it’s overturned!

                  Bullshlt.

That's a blatant shoulder charge by definition.

Last game or not, he has to cop a week or two.

                    • It was a BLATANT shoulder charge. It was PREMEDITATED, he admits he did it because he thought the winger would step inside. He could have spread his arms but he knew he couldn't stop him that way. All the excuses in the world about him being such a good guy etc are rubbish. Slater has been a grub on the field for a long time, as has Smith. He should miss the game and I hate all the spin being put on it because it's his last game, that has nothing to do with it. If it was any other player he would be outed.

                      • Andrew Webster is on TV, saying that Jake's spear tackle was worst then billy's.
Fight the charge and appeal to the mrc with emotion and he'll get off.
                        Farking biased media.

Yes and I was filthy when Luke Ricketson got rubbed out of a GF for a bitch slap. But the NRL in its wisdom decided that rules are rules.

I do know a couple of things. First, the judiciary member who represents the company that sponsors Souths’ trainers (Garlo’s Pies) will definitely vote for Slater’s exoneration. Second, there is no chance that Todd Greenberg will make a dramatic appearance half way through the hearing.

the storm ceo said Slater's charge is like 'Bambi being shot'. If the judiciary bow to that crap then it's clear they want a Slater fairytale ending and will do whatever it takes to get it.

                            • Channel Nine commentators did their best to try and get him off. I kind of agree with them, but if they do go by the rules the NRL has no choice.

Their website still lists him as Managing Director. Still a conflict of interest (at least any decision that related to the possible exposure of the brand on GF day - which was the case when he passed judgement on Latrell).
