  • If Slater does happen to get off, there are a couple of things that the Roosters will avoid:

    - 'Do it for Billy'.The Storm could find an extra resolve to win the game and send him off on a good note. No doubt the media will get behind this. The NRL love a fairytale, who knows what sort of impact that has on the refs...

    - added hype to the Roosters. If Slater is out (and if Cronk has a miracle recovery) the pressure will be on from all angles saying we are morals. Less noise about us as possible is what I like.

    - complacency. I don't think it will happen, but you never know if a slight mental relaxation of playing the Storm without him.

Maybe not the Parra game lol

But clearly against us every time I hear him comment,he can’t hide his bias.

What I don't understand is how Billy wasn't given 10 in the bin. Clear cut penalty in a try scoring situation. I think the game was still competitive at that stage? Might have gone differently if the Storm had been playing with 12 men for a while.
And on the flip-side if he is found not guilty that would mean that it should not have even been a penalty. Go figure????

What would have happened if it was Dylan Napa who did the shoulder charge?

Either the guillotine or hung, drawn and quartered like William Wallace.

I can only imagine an immediate send off

Considering the fact that JWH was once sent from the field for using bad language, I suspect the ref would have used his service revolver to execute him on the spot.

                    • Jarrod interviewed on Fox this arvo was asked about the Slater tackle. First he said he couldn’t comment but when pressed he said a shoulder charge is a shoulder charge. Then he was asked whether Slaters was a shoulder charge and he said ‘anyone can see it was a shoulder charge’.

                      • Don't get your hopes up and set yourselves up for a fall, fellas.

He is absolutely 99.9% likely to get off.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER IT WAS A SHOULDER CHARGE - WHICH IT WAS.

This is Billy the Koala Slater in what would be his last game - a Grand Final.

                        $1.001 to get off.

Accept it. I have. That way it won't hurt when the verdict comes in.

That's the real joke... both Napa and Latrell got sent off. Being sent off is supposed to make your punishment lighter because you have already had a spell.

IMO the fact Slater wasn't sent off should work against him. Pretty might right after it he marched up the field and scored (following a Cam Smith intentional offside that blocked the Sharks' subsequent attempt at scoring). The pair coulda been sent. Instead one just gets a slap on the wrist penalty (better than a try) and the other will probably get the same after the tribunal decides it's ridiculous to exclude a future immortal from his last game, a grand final.

I reckon the sentencing system needs to be revamped to better reflect time in the bin. Also, there needs to be some flexibility for absurdities. As much as I hate Slater, WTF is ANY contact with your shoulder an immediate 2 game suspension? Also, how often do you see guys get put on report for it? It's silly.

I'm not hanging out for him to be suspended. If he plays, he plays. He shouldn't, but if he does then so be it.

But if last Sat was his last game, that was a great way to go out. Motm in a big game at home. Billy has had a stellar career and if he misses the GF he will still have had a stellar career. It's not as if the guy's trophy shelf is empty.

Fairfax should dump him and make Prozeneski lead RL reporter.
Andrew Webster claims it wasn't a shoulder charge it was a shoulder collision. Bloody hell seriously? If you want Slater to play because its his last match and a GF then just say it.....but don't print ludicrous articles which is demeaning to the intelligence of the reader. Does he think the average NRL is blind?
In every aspect of the shoulder charge rule Slaters tackle ticked every box- it is what it is and that's a shoulder charge. If you want to change the interpretation of the rule (although i don't know how) then its a week too late.
Slater, despite having a history of illegal dangerous plays trying to stop a try ( which is normally sliding in with his feet studs out), doesn't deserve to miss this last game for what he did.....but don't tell us that the tackle was legal in any way because thats just simply wrong
