  • 2012 - Where Do We Put The Injured Guys?

Our forward pack in the last few games having been playing pretty well and have also staked a pretty good claim to be part of the team for next season.

Where do we put Marty Kennedy and Mitch Aubs next year?

And if Todd Carney is retained by the club, where do you either put him or Braith. I'd try both of them in the centres and see who goes best.

There will always be a couple of injured players, so it probably won't be an issue. If not, Arona and Symonds will probably drop back to the Jets.

The competition for spots will be good for the team.

      8. Ryles (2012)
      9. Friend (unsure)
      10. Kennedy (unsure)
      11. Takairangi (2013)
      12. Aubusson (2013)
      13. Hargreaves (2012)

      14. Mitchell (2012)
      15. Nuuausala (2013)
      15. Tasi (unsure)
      17. Masoe (unsure)

Ailomai (2013), Evans (unsure), Lowe (unsure), Bosden (2013), Cherrington (2012) and Symonds (2014) are all possibles too. I honestly don't see why Guerra or Arona would stay if they are stuck behind all of these blokes.

Yes, I have been thinking about just this issue for quite some time. The Roosters' depth in the forwards appears excessive which may mean some fan favourites being released while at the same time creating some genuine competition for spots in FG which can only be a good thing. Signing Ailomai and Bosden seems silly at the moment given the aforementioned depth.

I reckon I'd put Kennedy at prop and play Maubs in the back row.

Maybe! As we have seen this year, injuries and form have a way of sorting these problems out.

                Lowe is off contract atm.

I'd see how they go during the off-season then decide
We are in quite a comfortable position with some positions... not in others though. IMO we still lack a couple of BIIIIG, fast outside backs.

Not dissing on Leilua BTW (he has come along in leaps and bounds)... but IMO we have no game breaking outside backs.

5/8 Might be better without Carney? Braith has done well at 5/8, and I get the feeling caused tension this season because:
                  - He's a really small back rower and we have a LOT of depth in the back row.
                  - Carney at his best... well not even worth comparing... is hands down a better 5/8.

Braith at 5/8 at least clears up a place in the back row. If the forwards can work their bums off (and they can!!!!! Kennedy, Symonds, Guerra, Tasi, Mataka...etc are all GOOD... none of them are soft/lazy carnts!!) Well then maybe we don't need a superstar 5/8? Braith kicked at 85% last night - if he continues with that accuracy and stops kicking the ball into touch/less than 10m during the kickoff then he's got a few more years left in him IMO.

....and how many of those guys would need to be released to pay for someone like SBW ?
I truely hope that rumour never sees the light of day !

Don't read too much in to the last four weeks. We beat St.George who were out of form, Sharks and Eels who are no good and the Storm who had nothing to play for (couldn't lose top position), they rested four players (Smith, Slater, Bromwich, Norrie) and suffered three injuries (Lowe, Blair & Widdop) during the game.

For mine, I would keep Carney as 5/8th, Braith to Fox Sports permanently, Kennedy starting prop and Aubs as backrower/centre on the bench.

I like our forwards and I think we have plenty of depth. I just hope Tagive comes along, Moga is given an opportunity and I'd love to have Omar Slaimankhel as our full back, if not next year then definitely the year after.

As far as I can gather:

                            Todd is going.
                            We've reportedly signed a new 5/8.
Anasta will be playing in the forwards.

Any good young players not yet under contract will likely be offered more money by others clubs and poached.
