Was told this Thursday, local physio knew the person who did the scans. Can't believe it wasn't leaked. Amazingly tough

How do you balance the joy and the sentiment? What a champ tho!
It was emotional to see him emotional in that moment, as you say it probably all hit him then, he didn't have time last week to think about anything else besides getting to the end of 80. It hit me in that moment too, the selflessness of the bloke who's not secretly there doing or saying for himself, and lets face it he could be more entitled, he's clearly looked up to but there's no superior attitude or putting others offside with robbo consulting him on coaching- characteristics lile this filter through and unites the roosters club, everyone's equally valued and boy it showed last night. Massive massive respect. And to uncle nick, very happy the heavily scrutinized move paid off for all and worked a charm.

Cooper copped a bit of flak early on from those expecting him to part the Red Sea first game etc. Claims our kicking game was little better than before and he wasn't picking the right players and too slow, played one season too long etc.

And then the ultimate insult that Cooper was only good because he played outside of Smith and behind a Storm pack etc. Fact is Cooper was the guy Qld most missed in Origin. With him out NSW were a chance, when he played we were toast.

His defence was what impressed me at the beginning of the year as he adapted to a new club under more pressure than any other buy since SBW. Then I noticed how our right edge stopped leaking tries. Fergo's form picked up and not only in attack. Sure it was a contract year but there was more to it. Manu who had defensive weaknesses became rock solid and aggressive. He was right in the contest. The team was believing in the team.

No more kicks failing to find touch from a penalty. Repeat sets and mounting pressure all of a sudden. No more second half capitulations. Was it all Cooper. No I don't think so. It was what happened when we bought him. The wake up call went through the side. No more resting on laurels. Treat every game and the jersey with respect.

Cooper and Teddy aren't good time charlies. They're professionals. And we've become the new professional standard. I'm sure Trent had had enough of working through tactics carefully only to see them not carried out correctly. We paid for game management and we got it. And now it's hard to find a Cronk critic.

Did you see the tribute Trent paid him in the dressing room after full time. And the round of applause from the players. That says it all. If he never plays another game for us. The job got done. With one arm.

He was out there for the rest of the team and for us, and for that we will always be grateful and he will always be a club legend!
He's a breath of fresh air amongst his peers. Future leadership role at the club in some capacity for sure. Greenturd thinks the world of him too.

Hit the nail on the head and a brilliant summation.
Cronk brought the same level of professionalism to the club that sbw did and he installed in the players a belief and confidence to be winners .

Uncle Nick sure knows how to get the best of the best.

p.s Just a thought......had Pearce not spat the dummy and played on, our coaching staff may not have risked Cronk and elected to go with him @ 7. Scary!!!

Wholeheartedly agree with everything except the third last sentence. He signed up for two seasons and I very much hope he does play more games for us. Yes, before the GF you might do a deal with the footy goods to get the premiership and for that to be his last game, but you can't make that sort of a deal and I don't want us to be struggling next year without a half.

But that's not your main point, and every other thing you say is spot on.

What's in it for Cooper to play on? Well, number one, that's what he said he was going to do, but also, number two, if he can help us win another premiership next year, you could argue he's as great a half as Thurston or Johns. Very different, but as far as ensuring your team is successful, he might have surpassed those two greats.
