How do you balance the joy and the sentiment? What a champ tho!

Cooper copped a bit of flak early on from those expecting him to part the Red Sea first game etc. Claims our kicking game was little better than before and he wasn't picking the right players and too slow, played one season too long etc.
And then the ultimate insult that Cooper was only good because he played outside of Smith and behind a Storm pack etc. Fact is Cooper was the guy Qld most missed in Origin. With him out NSW were a chance, when he played we were toast.
His defence was what impressed me at the beginning of the year as he adapted to a new club under more pressure than any other buy since SBW. Then I noticed how our right edge stopped leaking tries. Fergo's form picked up and not only in attack. Sure it was a contract year but there was more to it. Manu who had defensive weaknesses became rock solid and aggressive. He was right in the contest. The team was believing in the team.
No more kicks failing to find touch from a penalty. Repeat sets and mounting pressure all of a sudden. No more second half capitulations. Was it all Cooper. No I don't think so. It was what happened when we bought him. The wake up call went through the side. No more resting on laurels. Treat every game and the jersey with respect.
Cooper and Teddy aren't good time charlies. They're professionals. And we've become the new professional standard. I'm sure Trent had had enough of working through tactics carefully only to see them not carried out correctly. We paid for game management and we got it. And now it's hard to find a Cronk critic.
Did you see the tribute Trent paid him in the dressing room after full time. And the round of applause from the players. That says it all. If he never plays another game for us. The job got done. With one arm.

Cronk brought the same level of professionalism to the club that sbw did and he installed in the players a belief and confidence to be winners .

Cronky just rest up take the next year off if you want. Just make sure you are back for those 3 important games in September.

But that's not your main point, and every other thing you say is spot on.
What's in it for Cooper to play on? Well, number one, that's what he said he was going to do, but also, number two, if he can help us win another premiership next year, you could argue he's as great a half as Thurston or Johns. Very different, but as far as ensuring your team is successful, he might have surpassed those two greats.
