How good is the feeling of being NRL Premiers? 14 is a good number, my wife's birthday!

Our little family group of 5 haven't all attended a winning Grand final together. We have had various combinations of members present for wins but never all together. So before us attending last night, privately I was looking for little indicators that pointed to a Roosters victory. Kept them quite before the game, just locked in my little brain but for the record this is what I pinned hope on:

A little history. Yes we know Cooper is the first player since 1974 to win a premiership in consecutive years with two different clubs - it’s a Roosters thing - Johnny Mayes, Manly 1973, Easts 1974.

*But further to that, Easts cut a favourite son halfback at the end of ‘73 (Kevin Junee) to bring in Mayes after not realising their potential in the earlier seasons.Roosters cut favourite son halfback (Ju Ju) to bring in Cooper after not realising their potential in earlier seasons.

*1974 result 19-4 (15 point margin); last night 21-6 (15 point margin). Ha! Didn't know that before last night but it had to be!

    * In ‘74, an outstanding (he was a boyhood favourite) Easts winger (Jim Porter) announced that he was leaving at the end of the season to join Parramatta, 2018, an outstanding East winger ( Blakey-my wife's name for him) announced that he was leaving at the end of the season to join Parramatta.

    We were destined!

*Also, Jim never went on to win another premiership. Just saying....

Now for the future, in ‘75, Easts brought their favourite son back to the club (he was unable to win back the halfback position and retired without a premiership), does history take a slight turn and Roosters bring back their favourite son who slots back in after Cooper wins back to backs & retires (and he finally wins a premiership in 2020?)

Good points. I was a big fan of Johnny Mayes.
I hope Pearce plays out his career in Newcastle.

I don't believe in omens, but it's always a bit of fun to play around with them.

I was thinking Manly played 3 GFs in a row in the 90s and only won 1. Ditto us 2002-04 and the Storm 2006-08.

And, really straining relevance, a team supported by a Liberal PM has never won a comp. In fact, the last 3 times a Liberal PM has had a team in the GF it has lost (Howard in 96 and 99 and Abbott in 13). So, thanks Peter Dutton.

Pearce would have gone close to winning the dally m if not injured this year. Watching cronk play this year I cant help but feel Pearce had to do too much for us. Keary is a superstar and we have standout centres. We'd win a premiership with Pearce next year if he came. We'll win one with cronk as well.
