He too came out with a ruptured bicep. I do recall him coming out of a tackle he made holding his left arm. He was replaced soon after. He had a great game.

There was a good story on the Tele on the weekend about Manu’s life back in a tough part of Waikato and how his parents who were school teachers would help out some of the less privileged children of that town by giving them meals and trying to help them not to get involved in criminal activities. One of those was Zane. In an interview Manu did for Fox after the game Manu was in tears for what he achieved alongside his childhood friend Zane. Very moving. If you can get to find it, watch it.

Amazing performance from the whole team.

I found it upsetting seeing Joey interviewed and in tears talking about the fans who said he couldn’t tackle. It obviously affected the young man. A lesson for the keyboard warriors who are so quick to criticise.

Yes it was tough to watch but as they say, what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. And he has taken all that and used it to get to where he is.

Now the regalia they were wearing after the game makes even more sense.

I think Zane's efforts throughout the year and in the GF were tremendous. Thank you Zane and congrats on achieving a GF win with your mate from Tokoroa.

I sat right in front of Zane’s family in the Roosters supporters bay. Spoke to them at length during the evening. Cool crew. Really proud of him.

His partner is a pretty good sort as well and sat right behind me.

There's vision of this in the thread 'Stuff You May Have Missed' at about the one minute mark - yep, great scene.

Sunday's NRL win wasn't just a win for the Sydney Roosters, it was a win for the league-loving Waikato town that raised Joseph Manu.

Every Easts player out there on Sunday night will go down as Easts legends in my eyes , Even the players that made contributions during the year but didn’t get to play in the big one . So proud .

Yeah, I saw that and my heart sank for him. In saying that, it probably shows that he did have some maturing to do if he is reading that stuff and taking it in. More experienced players just don't read it. Whatever the motivation he used to get better, he clearly worked hard all year and he finished the year in outstanding fashion. With his new found confidence and defensive prowess he is a huge weapon for us going forward.

Great to hear about the camaraderie with Tets too. Another example of how this team is woven together so strongly. Tets is one of those players that all clubs need - rolls his sleeves up and does the dirty work. Doesn't get the accolades that others do, probably not the pay packet either but a real important cog in the wheel. Now, he is a premiership winner and that can never be taken away from him! Great stuff!
